Summary

Job Description Summary
The Technology & Innovation Center (HTIC) is GE HealthCare's global innovation engine, operating through two major hubs (Niskayuna, NY, USA & Bangalore, India) with a highly specialized, multidisciplinary team spanning imaging physics, microelectronics, AI, biosciences, magnetics, robotics, materials science, and advanced system engineering. HTIC's purpose is to drive disruptive innovation that delivers step-change performance improvements in current platforms while pioneering next-generation and cross-segment technologies that lead to new business opportunities. HTIC also proposes and wins external grant awards, typically from the US government (NIH, BARDA, ARPA-H, etc.). The organization's redefined operating model, culture, and governance are enabling greater agility, stronger clinical and segment partnerships, and the acceleration of disruptive solutions that position GE HealthCare to drive the future of healthcare.
As the Senior Technology Director of the Electrical Systems and Radiation Detection team, you will lead a team of mixed-signal ASIC designers, power electronic engineers, and detector physicists enabling advanced healthcare applications in CT, MR, PET, and Ultrasound. This role is based in HTIC and has global impact across many of the GEHC Segments. This role defines and executes long-term technology and solution roadmaps spanning mixed signal ASICs, Power Electronics and Radiation Detection. As a recognized expert and thought leader, the director will guide the advancement of these technologies that improve patient outcomes, develop new capabilities, and create new sources of enterprise value.
Operating across GE HealthCare segments and collaborating with Segment teams in AVS, Imaging and PCS, the role drives innovation from early research through translational impact. Success is measured by the development of high-value, high performance electronic designs, strong external partnerships and funding wins, and the creation of scalable foundation technologies that strengthen GEHC's leadership across its hardware product lines.

Job Description
Strategic Research Leadership
  • Define, own, and evolve the domain research and technology roadmap, ensuring alignment with GEHC segment strategies and enterprise priorities.
  • Lead large-scale, multidisciplinary research programs covering all aspects of the domain while advancing technology solutions and developing new technology capabilities.
  • Initiate and advance disruptive technology opportunities in Electronic Systems and Radiation Detection.
  • Maintain deep technical expertise in Electronic Systems and Radiation Detection to provide relevant scientific leadership and guide future directions.
  • Build measurable outcomes for the research portfolio, including improved system performance (new capabilities, thermal performance, power consumption, resolution, data rates, sensitivity, etc.), publications, IP, and external impact.

Business Alignment
  • Partner closely with GEHC segment teams to translate research outcomes into scalable business value.
  • Navigate complex organizational interfaces to integrate research outputs into product roadmaps, influence portfolio strategy, and ensure alignment across GEHC technology leaders.
  • Develop value-creation pathways for new solutions-through segment alignment and new business opportunity development.

External Partnerships & Ecosystem Impact
  • Secure external funding from government agencies (e.g., NIH, BARDA, ARPA-H, DoD).
  • Identify and develop external technical partners that support the technical work, continuously evaluating new opportunities to improve GEHC's ability to rapidly develop ASICs, power electronics and radiation detection systems and capabilities.
  • Build and maintain strategic relationships with academic collaborators, electronic systems ecosystems, clinical institutions, and external partners to extend GEHC's technology footprint.
  • Represent GEHC in the global innovation ecosystem through thought leadership, conference participation, publications, and technology advocacy.

Operational & Organizational Leadership
  • Lead and develop a high-performing team of physicists and electrical engineers across multiple geographies.
  • Foster a culture of scientific rigor, innovation, and transparent execution aligned with HTIC's operating model and GEHC leadership behaviors.
  • Drive operational excellence, including resource planning, program governance, portfolio metrics, technical reviews, and Heartbeat implementation.
  • Ensure adherence to GEHC quality, regulatory, and EHS standards.

Required Qualifications
  • Masters degree in Electrical Engineering or Physics with expertise in mixed signal ASICs, power electronics and/or radiation detection.
  • 10+ years of experience leading advanced research and technology HW development in healthcare and/or medical devices.
  • Proven track record of translating research into high-impact technologies and solutions, ideally within regulated or clinically integrated environments.
  • Demonstrated success securing external funding (e.g., NIH, DARPA, ARPA-H) and managing multidisciplinary, multi-stakeholder programs.
  • Strong portfolio of peer-reviewed publications, patents, and/or externally recognized thought leadership.
  • Experience leading technical teams and partnering with clinical researchers and engineering organizations.

Desired Characteristics
  • PhD degree in Electrical Engineering or Physics with expertise in mixed signal ASICs, power electronics and/or radiation detection.
  • Strategic thinker with demonstrated ability to identify disruptive opportunities and influence organizational direction.
  • Deep understanding of electronics development ecosystems and what's required to translate research into real-world medical environments.
  • Exceptional communication and collaboration skills, capable of influencing across functions, geographies, and seniority levels.
  • Ability to manage risk and uncertainty in emerging technology domains, with a solution-oriented and boundary-less mindset.
  • Commitment to fostering inclusive team culture, talent development, and continuous learning.
