Location: Hybrid - Jacksonville, FL (Onsite every other week - 4 days)

Job Summary
The Record to Report (R2R) Finance Consultant is responsible for executing end-to-end accounting activities within the financial close process, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting in a railroad operations environment. This role supports compliance with industry-specific regulations and asset-intensive accounting standards. The analyst will collaborate cross-functionally with operations, maintenance, procurement, and asset management teams to ensure financial results accurately reflect operational performance.
Description

• Perform monthly, quarterly, and year-end close activities including journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, and variance analysis
• Maintain general ledger accuracy across cost centers, rail lines, operating divisions, and capital programs
• Support fixed asset accounting for locomotives, railcars, infrastructure, and signaling systems
• Calculate and reconcile depreciation, asset retirements, impairments, and capital project closeouts
• Partner with Operations and Maintenance teams to analyze fuel, labor, equipment utilization, and maintenance costs
• Ensure proper accounting for regulatory-driven transactions (e.g., FRA, STB, PTC)
• Support lease accounting under applicable standards (ASC 842 / IFRS)
• Prepare financial reporting packages and management insights
• Support internal and external audits with schedules and documentation
• Identify and implement process improvements to streamline close cycles and improve data accuracy
• Ensure compliance with company policies, controls, and regulatory requirements

Requirements

• 3+ years of accounting or R2R experience; transportation or asset-intensive industry preferred
• Strong knowledge of GAAP; IFRS familiarity is a plus
• Experience with fixed asset and capital project accounting
• Understanding of cost structures relevant to rail operations (fuel, labor, maintenance, equipment utilization)
• Proficiency with ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, JD Edwards, or similar)
• High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities during close cycles
• Bachelor s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
