Description: Our client is currently seeking a Data Platform Consultant(Hybrid in Chicago)

Job Description

I. Qualifications & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field-or equivalent practical experience
  • 5-7 years of combined experience in software development and technical support/production operations roles
  • Minimum 2-3 years of hands-on development experience with production-grade code
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues within enterprise-scale production environments
  • Experience working with distributed systems and cloud-based data architectures
  • Strong understanding of data pipelines, streaming architectures, and ETL/ELT processes
  • Demonstrated capability to work under pressure, manage multiple parallel incidents, and coordinate resolutions across teams
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a structured approach to root-cause analysis
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for creating documentation, runbooks, and collaborating with engineering teams
  • Experience leading incident response and driving post-incident improvements


II. Skills & Experience Required

Required Technical Skills

AWS Cloud Services
  • Hands-on experience with core AWS components such as S3, EC2, IAM, CloudWatch, VPC networking
  • Strong understanding of AWS architectural best practices

Kubernetes
  • Expertise troubleshooting containerized workloads
  • Experience with pod-level debugging, resource constraints, networking policies, and storage-related issues

SQL Proficiency
  • Advanced SQL skills for deep data analysis, performance optimization, and data quality troubleshooting

Kafka
  • Experience supporting Kafka streaming ecosystems
  • Skilled in diagnosing consumer lag, partition rebalancing, connector failures, and broker-level performance issues

Java Development
  • Strong Java development background
  • Ability to read, interpret, and debug Spring Boot/Spring Batch applications, including memory leaks, threading problems, and application crashes

Splunk
  • Proficiency with SPL queries, log analysis, dashboard creation, and alerting for proactive monitoring

OpenTelemetry (OTEL)
  • Experience with distributed tracing, observability practices, and correlating logs, metrics, and traces

HashiCorp Vault
  • Hands-on knowledge of Vault for secrets management
  • Troubleshooting authentication failures, token expiry, and secret rotation challenges

CI/CD Pipelines
  • Strong understanding of deployment workflows
  • Ability to diagnose build failures, deployment issues, and execute rollback procedures

Incident Management
  • Proven experience leading incidents, driving root-cause analysis, preparing postmortems, and implementing preventive measures
