Senior Mechanical Engineer - Simulation & Analysis
LOCATION - Atlanta, GA (Remote/Onsite)
ENGAGEMENT :Contract,1 year extendable
CONTRACT TYPE :W2 or C2C
ROLE OVERVIEW
Senior simulation-focused mechanical engineering role responsible for analysis-driven product development, CAD contribution,
model validation, test correlation, production support, and simulation automation.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Plan and run structural, dynamic, fatigue, and multibody simulations of AutoStore hardware, from components to full
assemblies.
Work with design engineers from concept onward to translate design questions into the right analysis and present clear
recommendations.
Create and modify CAD parts, assemblies, and drawings, and update designs based on simulation results.
Support rapid prototyping, pilot builds, and production hardware, including DFM, tolerance and material decisions, supplier
questions, build issues, and compliance.
Mentor a new-graduate mechanical engineer on design, analysis, and prototyping work.
Validate models against lab and field data and clearly communicate confidence and limitations.
Support test planning so physical tests confirm and calibrate simulation results.
Run design studies, parameter sweeps, and optimization to explore weight, cost, stiffness, and durability trade-offs.
Script and automate repetitive simulation workflows, document methods, build reusable models, and share simulation best
practices across R&D.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
5+ years of experience applying mechanical simulation in product development, ideally for electromechanical or robotic products.
Hands-on expertise with FEA tools such as Ansys Mechanical, Abaqus, Simcenter, or COMSOL Multiphysics, covering static, modal, dynamic, and nonlinear analysis.
Experience with explicit dynamics or multibody tools such as LS-DYNA, MSC Adams, or Simscape Multibody.
Strong grasp of solid mechanics, materials, fatigue, contact, meshing, boundary conditions, and model fidelity.
Experience correlating simulation with physical test data.
Proficiency in 3D CAD such as SolidWorks, Creo, or NX, including building and modifying parts, assemblies, and drawings.
Experience taking designs to production, including DFM/DFA, GD&T, tolerance analysis, material/process selection, and product compliance/safety standards.
Clear communication skills and a Bachelor's degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Python or MATLAB scripting for simulation automation and results processing.
Thermal or CFD experience using tools such as Ansys Fluent/Icepak, Simcenter FloTHERM, or STAR-CCM+.
Design of experiments, sensitivity analysis, or structural optimization experience.
Co-simulation experience such as FMI/FMU or familiarity with electrical, motor, or RF simulation tools.
Experience with physics-based robotics simulators such as NVIDIA Isaac Sim, Gazebo, or MuJoCo, synthetic data generation,
or reinforcement learning environments.
Background in robotics, logistics automation, or other high-cycle electromechanical systems.
