Principal Duties and Responsibilities
- Counsel university faculty, staff, retirees, beneficiaries, and vested terminated employees on HR and benefits-related inquiries, including plan eligibility, plan provisions, available options, enrollment, and change processes.
- Respond to inquiries regarding the university's benefit plans, requiring an in-depth understanding of benefits policies and procedures. Research and resolve complex inquiries as needed.
- Process benefit plan enrollments, changes, qualified status changes, and cancellations for active employee health, dental, vision, life, and Flexible Spending Account (FSA) benefits.
- Drive process efficiency within the Benefits department by creating process documentation and workflow charts, where applicable.
- Recommend process improvements and process fixes where applicable to enhance departmental efficiency.
