Description

SAIC is currently hiring for a System Administrator in North Charleston, SC.

Job Duties:

Take full ownership of the day-to-day stability and performance of a dedicated infrastructure stack built on Cisco computing, VMware, and NAS storage.
Act as the first responder for hardware and platform-level incidents, applying strong, methodical troubleshooting skills to diagnose and resolve issues.
Manage, maintain, and troubleshoot network components, with a focus on Cisco and Juniper OS, including switches, routers, and VPNs.
Work with a high degree of autonomy to manage the health of the hypervisor environment, collaborating with senior engineers when issues require escalation beyond the platform level.
Contribute to the administration of hosted services, with an emphasis on supporting and maintaining our Kubernetes (k8s) infrastructure.
Work alongside senior system engineers to learn established best practices and progressively take on more system administration tasks.
As your skills develop, you will help free up senior team members by managing routine maintenance, monitoring, and user support tasks.
Assist in improving operational efficiency through scripting and the automation of common tasks.

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience:

Bachelor's and two (2) years of experience; four (4) years of experience in lieu of degree.
Experience Level: 1-3 years in a hands-on IT role. This is not an entry-level position and requires a solid base of experience.
Network Troubleshooting: Proven ability to diagnose and resolve network issues. Direct experience with Cisco and/or Juniper OS is essential.
Hands-on experience with hypervisor platforms, specifically VMware.
Hardware & Storage: Demonstrable troubleshooting skills for server hardware and dedicated NAS systems.

Required Security Clearance:

Must currently hold an active Secret security clearance.
