Summary

Location: Raritan, NJ
Salary: $140,000.00 USD Annually - $150,000.00 USD Annually
Description:
Data Migration Specialist (SAP EWM + SAP BODS)
Location: Raritan, NJ - Hybrid (Onsite 3 days/week)
Employment Type: Full-time

About the Role

We're seeking an experienced Data Migration Specialist with deep hands-on expertise in SAP Extended Warehouse Management (SAP EWM) and SAP BusinessObjects Data Services (BODS). You will own end-to-end migration for a large-scale SAP EWM implementation-spanning strategy, planning, ETL build, data quality, cycle testing, and cutover-while partnering closely with functional, technical, and business teams to ensure a secure, compliant, and first-time-right data transition.

Key Responsibilities

Strategy & Planning
  • Define the data migration strategy, methodology, and detailed migration plan for SAP EWM.
  • Identify data migration risks, dependencies, and mitigation plans; maintain a clear RAID log.
  • Establish migration standards, naming conventions, and governance for mappings, rules, and documentation.

ETL Design & Build (SAP BODS)
  • Design, develop, and optimize BODS ETL jobs for extraction, transformation, and loading of EWM-related data objects (e.g., warehouse master, bin/slotting, handling units, stock, inbound/outbound deliveries).
  • Build reusable components, workflows, and data quality (DQ) rules in BODS; implement robust error handling, logging, restart/recovery, and performance tuning.
  • Collaborate with ABAP and integration teams to align IDocs/BAPIs/API interfaces and staging strategies.

Data Analysis, Cleansing & Validation
  • Lead data profiling, gap analysis, de-duplication, standardization, and DQ remediation across legacy systems.
  • Work with business SMEs to validate legacy data, coordinate cleansing activities, and sign-off rules/thresholds.
  • Maintain mapping documents, transformation rules, migration design documents, test cases, and test evidence.

Testing & Cutover Execution
  • Plan and execute cycle testing, mock loads, and dress rehearsals to validate volume, performance, and reconciliation.
  • Drive mock/cutover/production loads using BODS, LTMC, LTMOM, and/or custom load utilities; own reconciliation and defect triage.
  • Define and track conversion KPIs (load success %, DQ score, reconciliation variance, throughput, defect leakage).

Compliance, Security & Stakeholder Management
  • Ensure adherence to data governance, audit, and security standards (PII/PHI handling, SoD, access controls).
  • Partner closely with SAP EWM functional consultants, BASIS, ABAP developers, business SMEs, and project/program managers to align milestones and deliverables.
  • Provide clear status, risk/issue updates, and cutover readiness reports to leadership.

Must-Have Skills
  • 5-8+ years in data migration/ETL, including hands-on SAP BODS experience building complex jobs at scale.
  • Strong SAP EWM data object knowledge and load techniques (master & transactional).
  • End-to-end ownership of ETL/ELT: extraction, transformation, cleansing, validation, loading, and reconciliation.
  • Expertise with LTMC/LTMOM and SAP load mechanisms; familiarity with IDocs/BAPIs and staging patterns.
  • Proven data quality practices: profiling, standardization, de-duplication, rule design, and exception handling.
  • Solid SQL skills and performance tuning for large datasets.
  • Experience executing cycle tests, mock runs, and cutovers in fast-paced SAP programs.
  • Strong Agile ways of working, documentation rigor, and stakeholder communication.

Nice-to-Have / Preferred
  • Exposure to pharma/medical devices or highly regulated environments (GxP, CSV).
  • Knowledge of adjacent SAP modules (MM, SD, TM) and integration to EWM.
  • Experience with S/4HANA data structures and MDG for master data governance.
  • Scripting for automation (e.g., Python, Shell) and job orchestration (e.g., Control-M, AutoSys).
  • Understanding of data security & privacy standards (HIPAA, GDPR) and audit evidence management.
