Job Details

We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer with strong product development experience to design and refine industrial food processing equipment. This role focuses on stainless steel systems, sheet metal components, weldments, and complex machine assemblies. The ideal candidate brings hands-on engineering expertise, solid 3D modeling skills, and the ability to take products from concept through production in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

  • Lead mechanical design and development of food processing equipment from concept, modeling, prototyping, testing, and release to production.
  • Create detailed 3D models and engineering drawings for stainless steel components, sheet metal parts, machined parts, and welded assemblies.
  • Apply sound engineering principles to ensure manufacturability, durability, safety, and sanitary design compliance (including USDA/3-A standards if applicable).
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including manufacturing, quality, service, and product management to define requirements and drive design improvements.
  • Manage design changes, BOM updates, and documentation through the full product lifecycle.
  • Perform tolerance stack-ups, basic FEA, material selection, and root cause analysis for design issues.
  • Support prototype builds, testing, and validation of equipment performance.
  • Partner with suppliers and fabrication teams to ensure cost-effective and high-quality production methods.
  • Provide engineering support for continuous improvement, sustaining engineering, and customer-driven modifications.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • 3-7+ years of mechanical/product development engineering experience (industrial equipment preferred).
  • Strong experience with stainless steel design, sheet metal, weldments, and machine assemblies.
  • Proficiency in 3D CAD (SolidWorks, Creo, Inventor, or similar).
  • Working knowledge of manufacturing processes: laser cutting, forming, machining, fabrication, and welding.
  • Experience supporting equipment used in food processing or other sanitary environments preferred.
  • Understanding of engineering documentation, GD&T, and design-for-manufacturing principles.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, communication skills, and ability to work in a collaborative environment.
