The Senior Network Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, supporting, and optimizing enterprise grade, multi site network infrastructures. This role requires deep hands on expertise with Cisco routing and switching, WAN/LAN connectivity, and secure network design. The position focuses on building and supporting resilient, scalable networks while quickly diagnosing and resolving complex network issues in production environments. The Senior Network Engineer collaborates closely with cross functional IT teams to deliver immediate and sustained operational impact.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, support, and maintain multi site network infrastructures across enterprise environments.
- Configure Cisco network equipment from the ground up, including routers, switches, and associated services, without reliance on pre built templates.
- Support WAN and LAN connectivity, including site to site VPNs, MPLS, and wireless point to point and point to multipoint solutions.
- Troubleshoot complex network performance, connectivity, and security issues in live environments.
- Implement and manage VLAN segmentation, routing protocols, and Quality of Service (QoS) policies.
- Integrate firewalls and security controls into network architectures following best practices.
- Support hybrid cloud networking connectivity across Azure and AWS environments.
- Monitor network performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement optimization improvements.
- Maintain accurate network documentation including diagrams, configurations, standards, and procedures.
- Collaborate with systems, security, and application teams to support organizational technology initiatives.
- Provide technical guidance and contribute to network architecture decisions and improvements.
Network Security & Cybersecurity Responsibilities
- Implement secure network designs incorporating defense in depth principles.
- Configure, manage, and support firewalls from a network perspective.
- Support intrusion detection and prevention systems (IDS/IPS).
- Identify, mitigate, and remediate network level vulnerabilities.
- Ensure secure configuration of network devices following industry and organizational standards.
- Participate in security initiatives and respond to network related incidents.
- Continuously expand knowledge of cybersecurity tools and practices used within the organization.
Required Qualifications
- 7+ years of hands on experience designing and supporting enterprise network infrastructures.
- Strong Cisco routing and switching expertise (CCNA/CCNP level knowledge).
- Proven experience with:
- WAN/LAN architectures
- Site to site VPNs
- MPLS networks
- Wireless point to point and point to multipoint solutions
- Ability to independently assess existing environments and deploy solutions with minimal ramp up time.
- Demonstrated experience configuring Cisco network equipment from scratch.
- Solid understanding of networking fundamentals including TCP/IP, VLANs, routing, and switching.
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem resolution skills.
- Ability to work effectively in fast paced, production environments.
Preferred Qualifications
- Cisco certifications (CCNA, CCNP, or equivalent experience).
- Exposure to Azure and AWS hybrid networking environments.
- Experience with enterprise firewall platforms.
- Familiarity with network monitoring and performance management tools.
- Practical experience supporting IDS/IPS platforms.
- Background working in environments requiring high availability and reliability.
- Exposure to broader cybersecurity tooling and frameworks.
