Summary

Overview

DecisionPoint seeks a Data Governance & Metadata Lead to establish and maintain consistent data ownership, definitions, metadata, lineage, approved-use records, retention rules, and common identifiers supporting the USMEPCOM ENLIST program.

This senior-level position will apply DAMA-DMBOK-aligned practices to help Government stakeholders understand, manage, and appropriately use mission data across AI integration, data management, data warehouse, analytics, and reporting activities.

Duties & Responsibilities

The Data Governance & Metadata Lead will:

  • Maintain approved-use records documenting authorized purposes, restrictions, decisions, and supporting approvals.
  • Document retention rules and coordinate their implementation with Government records, legal, privacy, security, and technical representatives, as applicable.
  • Establish and maintain common identifiers, naming conventions, reference-data definitions, and cross-system mappings.
  • Apply DAMA-DMBOK-aligned practices to data governance, metadata management, stewardship, data quality, and lifecycle management.
  • Facilitate Government decisions on data definitions, access, ownership, approved uses, and authoritative sources.
  • Prepare governance agendas, decision materials, meeting records, action items, and decision logs.
  • Track governance issues, unresolved ownership questions, conflicting definitions, and corrective actions.
  • Coordinate with engineering teams to keep metadata and lineage current as pipelines, schemas, datasets, and integrations change.
  • Support consistent definitions and calculation rules for KPIs, dashboards, analytical products, and self-service reporting.
  • Coordinate governance records for datasets used in AI training, validation, testing, retrieval, and operational analysis.
  • Help ensure data-use restrictions and Government-approved access decisions are reflected in technical implementation.
  • Work with data quality and testing personnel to connect governance rules with validation checks and documented evidence.
  • Assess proposed data changes for effects on definitions, lineage, ownership, retention, approved uses, and downstream consumers.
  • Maintain searchable governance documentation and support user understanding of available data and its limitations.
  • Report governance status, documentation gaps, unresolved decisions, and improvement priorities to program leadership and Government stakeholders.
  • Provide guidance and knowledge transfer to data owners, stewards, analysts, and technical teams.
