What we need

The Field Maintenance Traineris responsible fordeveloping and training Maintenance Technicians to safely troubleshoot, repair, calibrate, and perform preventative maintenance onSymbotic?sadvanced automation systems. Training programs are developed under centralized governance to ensure consistency, quality, and scalability, with field trainers contributing subject matterexpertiseto content design and delivery.These systems includeSymbotic?sAutomated Adapters, Vertical Lifts, robotic fleet, and associated control systems.In this role, you will serve as a technical subject matter expert and educator, helping technicians become highly proficient in mechanical, electrical, PLC, robotic, and electromechanical troubleshooting. The ideal candidate combines strong hands-on industrial automation experience with the ability to effectively coach, mentor, and develop maintenance teams in fast-paced operational environments.

What we do

The Field Maintenance Trainer is a vital member of the Customer Operations organization. In this role, you willbe responsible fortraveling to customer sites to lead the training, coaching, and development of bothSymboticand client personnel. Training will include a blend of classroom instruction and hands-on experience. The Field Operations Training team plays a crucial role in ensuring the development and success of our employees at customer locations.

  • Deliver technical training programs for maintenance personnel, serving as a subject matter expert and partnering in the design and development of training content.

  • Train technicians on the operation, maintenance, and repair ofSymboticautomation systems and maintenance equipment.

  • Deliver both classroom and hands-on field training focused on electrical, mechanical, PLC, robotic, and controls troubleshooting.

  • Train site teams to diagnose and debug PLCs, robotic systems, HMIs, VFDs, and automated processes.

  • Partner with cross-functional teams toidentifyongoing technical training needs and skill gaps.

  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of training materials, delivery methods, and technical documentation to support evolving business needs.

  • Act as an escalation point for technical and customer-related training issues.

  • Maintain expert-level knowledge ofSymboticproducts, automation systems, and operational processes.

  • Identifyopportunities to improve troubleshooting efficiency, maintenance effectiveness, and repair cost optimization.

  • Support maintenance operations on-site as an active member of the field team whenrequired.

  • Travel to customer sites to support system launches, technician development, and operational readiness.

  • Performadditionalduties as assigned.

Whatyou?llneed

  • Bachelor?s degree or equivalent work experiencerequired.

  • Minimum of 3 years of technical training, coaching, or instructional experience in industrial or automation environments.

  • Minimum of 2 years of industrialcontrols, automation, or robotics experience.

  • Strong understanding of adult learning principles and technical training delivery methods.

  • Ability to lead technical discussions and present effectively in both classroom and field environments.

  • Experience partnering in the development and delivering live and online training content.

  • Ability to adapt training methods based on technician skill level and operational needs.

  • Experience with DDC systems, industrial robotics, or automation platforms such as ABB or FANUC.

  • Experience with Allen-BradleyRSLogix5000,RSLogix500, and FactoryTalk View.

  • Strong PLC, robotics, andcontrolstroubleshooting experience.

  • Experience troubleshooting electrical and mechanical systems using schematics, multimeters, megohmmeters, and oscilloscopes.

  • ExperiencemodifyingHMIs, VFDs, and automation system configurations.

  • Knowledge of advanced sensors including scanners, encoders, and distance sensors.

  • Ability to read and interpret electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic drawings.

  • Experienceworking in collaboration with centralized learning or training governance models preferred.

  • 80% domestic travelrequired.

Our Environment

  • Remote, field-basedpositionwith80% travel.

  • Travel isrequired: Employee must have a valid driver?s license and the ability to drive and/or flyto client and other customer locations.

  • Must havea creditcard available fortravellingexpenses.

  • The employee isfrequentlyrequired to walk and reach with handsand arms.

  • The employeeis routinely required towork at heights of up to 45 feet and within restrictive areas of 24 inches. to stand; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.

  • The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

  • Mustcomply withall safety requirements and protocols, including without limitation Lock out tag out safety protocols and fall protection safety protocols.

  • There will be steep stairs to climb into the structure and ability toStand/walk for up to 10-12 hours.

  • You will regularly be near railings that are high off the ground.

  • Subject to environmental conditions, protection from weather conditions but not necessarilytemperature changes. Must be capable of working in temperatures ranging from 105 to 32 Fahrenheit.

  • Must be capable of occasional and/or continuous feeling, seeing, hearing, bending, twisting, stooping, pushing, pulling, balancing, gripping, climbing, crawling, sitting, handling objects, and repetitive movement using both hands and feet.

  • Must be in confined spaces for extended periods of time.

The base range for this position in the posted location is $87,000.00 - $119,900.00 however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The compensation package includes medical, dental, vision, disability, 401K, PTO and/or other benefits.
