Summary:
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Networking Engineer to join our service provider team. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundational understanding of routing protocols and network management technologies, along with hands-on experience in testing and documentation. This role supports senior engineers and developers in designing, testing, and monitoring high-performance networks, automating test cases, validating performance, and maintaining documentation.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist in the configuration, testing, and troubleshooting of service provider-grade routers and switches.
Support routing protocol operations including IS-IS, BGP, Segment Routing and MPLS in lab and production environments.
Perform network testing using tools such as Ixia and Spirent to validate performance, scalability, and reliability.
Capture and analyze logs during testing phases to identify issues and document findings.
Work with NETCONF, gNMI, and streaming telemetry for network configuration and monitoring.
Participate in performance monitoring and reporting using telemetry and analytics platforms.
Maintain detailed and structured documentation of test cases, results, configurations, and troubleshooting steps.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams including software, QA, and operations to ensure seamless integration and deployment.
Stay updated with industry trends and emerging technologies in networking and automation
Technical Expertise:
Routing Protocols: Deep understanding of IS-IS (including multi-instance, authentication, keychains), BGP (iBGP/eBGP, Route Reflectors, VPN RR, AFI/SAFI, communities, policies), Segment Routing (SRGB/SRLB, prefix/adjacency SIDs), and Flex Algo (definition, participation, advertisement).
Network Security: Experience with ACLs (IPv4/IPv6), keychain management, protocol authentication (IS-IS, BGP), TACACS+ integration, SSH configuration, and cryptographic algorithms.
Performance Monitoring: Familiarity with BFD, TWAMP, and dynamic/static delay measurement.
QoS & Policies: Configure and troubleshoot QoS policies, traffic engineering, and routing policies.
VPN : VRF, EVPN, VPWS, and L2/L3 VPN services.
Automation: Experience with CLI-based automation, configuration templates, and network management tools.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
Strong fundamentals on Layer 2/3 networking concepts and protocols.
Hands-on experience in IS-IS, BGP, MPLS, and traffic engineering.
Proficiency in NETCONF, YANG models, and streaming telemetry (e.g., gRPC, gNMI).
Experience with network testing tools such as Ixia, Spirent, or similar.
Ability to capture and interpret logs using tools like Wireshark, tcpdump, or vendor-specific logging utilities.
Excellent documentation skills.
Basic scripting knowledge (Python) is a must.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Good communication and teamwork abilities.
Preferred Qualifications:
Certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, JNCIA, JNCIP or equivalent are a plus.
Experience with automation frameworks and test orchestration tools.
Prior involvement in lab certification testing, field deployment, or automation infrastructure
