Job Summary
  • This role serves as the technical and operational leader for HP's Diagnostics portfolio, providing architectural direction, program leadership, and strategic oversight across HP diagnostics solutions, telemetry integrations, and emerging diagnostic technologies. The role is responsible for driving diagnostics architecture, new platform readiness, cross-functional execution, quality governance, release management, and long-term roadmap planning while serving as the primary technical escalation point for complex diagnostic, platform, and customer support challenges. The position combines deep technical expertise in PC architecture and diagnostics with program management leadership to ensure delivery of scalable, reliable, and innovative diagnostic solutions across HP's commercial and consumer portfolio.

Responsibilities

Diagnostics Architecture & Technical Leadership
  • Serves as the primary Diagnostics Architect and technical authority for HP Diagnostics solutions across all current and future diagnostic platforms.
  • Establishes and maintains technical architecture, design standards, and platform alignment across the diagnostics ecosystem.
  • Provides architectural guidance and technical leadership for new technologies, AI-enabled diagnostics, telemetry integration, predictive analytics, and future support initiatives.
  • Acts as the final technical escalation point for complex diagnostic failures, platform readiness issues, customer escalations, and engineering challenges.

New Product Introduction (NPI) & Platform Readiness
  • Leads diagnostics readiness activities for new HP platforms, processors, chipsets, ARM-based systems, AI PCs, workstations, docks, displays, and accessory products.
  • Reviews platform validation results, test coverage, and architecture dependencies to determine launch readiness and identify gaps, risks, or constraints.
  • Partners with BIOS, Platform Engineering, Product Management, and Business Unit teams to ensure diagnostics support is designed into products early in the development cycle.
  • Supports sustaining engineering efforts and diagnostic enablement throughout the product lifecycle.

Program & Initiative Leadership
  • Owns and drives multiple diagnostics initiatives with committed delivery milestones and business objectives.
  • Develops and manages schedules, resource requirements, project risks, dependencies, and executive communications.
  • Leads cross-functional collaboration between engineering, customer support, platform teams, suppliers, business units, and external technology partners.
  • Facilitates technical decision-making and drives issue resolution to maintain roadmap commitments and delivery schedules.

Release Management & Operational Excellence
  • Oversees release planning, build management, validation, and deployment readiness activities for diagnostics software and supporting tools.
  • Coordinates testing, quality reviews, documentation, and release communications for Diagnostics SoftPaqs and related deliverables.
  • Establishes operational processes and quality controls that improve development efficiency, software reliability, and customer experience.
  • Supports continuous improvement initiatives focused on automation, development productivity, scalability, and supportability.

Quality, Risk & Defect Management
  • Leads diagnostics quality strategy, defect analysis, and risk mitigation activities across supported platforms.
  • Conducts technical reviews of failures, root causes, and customer-impacting issues.
  • Evaluates readiness risks and recommends mitigation plans for product launches and sustaining releases.
  • Ensures adherence to engineering, security, compliance, and quality standards.

Cross-Organizational Collaboration
  • Collaborates with Customer Support, Engineering, Platform Architecture, BIOS, Product Management, AI, Telemetry, and external technology partners.
  • Represents Diagnostics in roadmap discussions, NPI activities, and strategic planning initiatives.
  • Influences design decisions and technology direction across multiple organizations to improve customer support efficiency and service outcomes.
  • Builds and maintains partnerships that drive innovation and delivery success.

Technical Mentorship & Organizational Leadership
  • Mentor's engineers and program managers on diagnostics architecture, platform technologies, troubleshooting methodologies, and development best practices.
  • Promotes cross-training, documentation, and knowledge transfer to reduce single-point dependencies and improve organizational resiliency.
  • Provides technical coaching and guidance to less experienced team members.
  • Drives a culture of innovation, quality, accountability, and continuous learning.

Education & Experience Recommended
  • Four-year or Graduate Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, or related discipline, or equivalent experience.
  • Typically has 7-10 years of work experience in software engineering, diagnostics development, systems architecture, firmware/BIOS technologies, or technical program leadership.
  • Demonstrated experience leading cross-functional engineering initiatives and delivering enterprise-scale diagnostic or support technologies.
  • Experience supporting PC platforms, hardware diagnostics, telemetry solutions, NPI processes, and customer support ecosystems preferred.

The pay range for this role is $116,150 to $182,400 USD annually with additional opportunities for pay in the form of bonus and/or equity (applies to United States of America candidates only). Pay varies by work location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
