EDVT Test Engineer
Overview: The Transceiver Module Group (TMG) within Common Hardware Group
creates the optical interconnection technologies that power AI infrastructure—from 100Mbit/s to 1.6Tbit/s modules. As optics are the critical backbone of AI infrastructure, our team is at the forefront of this evolution, ensuring seamless integration of high-performance modules across vast portfolio of switches and systems.
In this role, you own failure analysis and complex problem-solving across our transceiver and platform testing—driving root cause analysis and corrective action on issues that block product development. This is hands-on work that requires both technical depth and the ability to think through hard problems under pressure.
Key Responsibilities:
● Perform system-level hardware EDVT to validate optical interconnects and pluggable
transceivers.
● Implement optimal test processes and strategies across multiple platforms to
ensure data integrity and analysis
● Find and debug complex hardware failures and drive root-cause analysis using
system logs and controlled experiments
● Execute hands-on test implementation, configuration, and testing on multiple platforms
● Develop and maintain test automation for EDVT and control test setups. Execute test
scripts to scale testing efficiency, maximize test coverage, and improve data analysis
● Collaborate with cross-functional project teams and supply base throughout product
development
● Work closely with Cisco platform hardware teams on issues, host design, module
qualifications, EDVT, and debugging
Required Qualifications:
● B.S. in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering with 4+ years of relevant
experience
● Hands-on experience with electrical and optical test and measurement equipment
● Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, analytical, and critical thinking skills
● Experience with automated testing (Unix/Linux, Python, Tcl/Expect, or similar tools)
● Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to express complex
technical concepts and work effectively with cross-functional teams and suppliers
Preferred Qualifications:
● Experience with basic networking (Cisco IOS/NXOS or CCNA)
● Familiarity with product specifications and datasheets for analyzing results and
performance
Desired Skills:
● Quality-oriented mindset with strong attention to detail
● Ability to own problems end-to-end with tenacity and patience
● Strong multitasking and decision-making skills
Work Environment:
● Daily hands-on work in the lab, including configuring equipment, running tests, and
conducting failure analysis
● May require lifting and moving equipment up to 25 lbs regularly
