Job Description

We are seeking a Web Accessibility Consultant to support the modernization and ongoing maintenance of accessible, user-centered internal and public-facing websites. The consultant will be responsible for ensuring ADA Level AA and WCAG compliance, improving website content and usability, and providing accessibility guidance to content teams and stakeholders.

This is a part-time hybrid position, primarily remote, with at least 10% in-office presence in Nashville, TN for routine meetings. The schedule is flexible and will be determined in coordination with the supervisor. Non-local candidates must be willing to travel to Nashville as needed at their own expense.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct website accessibility audits and remediate issues to meet ADA and WCAG 2.0/2.1 Level AA standards.

  • Review, edit, and restructure web content to improve clarity, accessibility, usability, and engagement.

  • Support website redesign initiatives, including information architecture, navigation, layouts, and user-centered design.

  • Collaborate with business stakeholders, communications teams, IT, and content contributors.

  • Provide accessibility training, resources, and practical guidance to website content creators.

  • Establish and document accessibility review processes, content standards, governance procedures, and maintenance workflows.

  • Evaluate user experience, user behavior, and feedback to identify opportunities for improving website usability and engagement.

  • Create or refine accessible graphics, templates, layouts, and other visual elements while maintaining branding standards.

  • Support accessibility testing using automated and manual testing methodologies.

  • Help ensure accessibility and content standards are consistently applied across internal and external websites.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor s degree in Web Design, Digital Media, Communications, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.

  • 3+ years of experience in website management, digital accessibility, UX design, content strategy, or a related field.

  • Demonstrated experience implementing ADA/WCAG 2.0 or 2.1 Level AA accessibility standards.

  • Experience with Adobe Experience Manager (AEM) and website governance practices.

  • Experience with accessibility testing tools such as WAVE, Axe, Siteimprove, or similar.

  • Strong understanding of user-centered design, usability, plain language, and inclusive content design.

  • Experience identifying and remediating digital accessibility barriers.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Accessibility certification such as CPACC, WAS, or equivalent.

  • Experience working in government, public-sector, or large enterprise environments.

  • Experience supporting both intranet and public-facing websites.

  • Experience with website redesign, content governance, and digital publishing workflows.

Technical Skills

Work Schedule & Location

  • Part-time: up to 20 hours per week

  • Working hours are between 8:00 AM and 4:30 PM CST

  • Flexible schedule determined with the supervisor

  • Primarily remote with at least 10% in-office presence in Nashville, TN

  • Occasional travel to Nashville may be required for non-local candidates

  • Travel expenses will not be reimbursed
