Job Overview

We are seeking a Software Engineer to join an advanced equipment software team supporting the development and enhancement of control software for semiconductor manufacturing systems. This role focuses on extending an existing Windows-based software platform to support new process equipment tools, as well as improving and refining current products. The position is based onsite in St. Paul, MN.

The ideal candidate will have strong experience in both front-end and back-end software development, with the ability to integrate software with complex electro-mechanical systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop reliable, scalable software to control complex equipment

• Enhance product capabilities and contribute to a shared technical knowledge base

• Support multiple development priorities and collaborate across engineering teams

• Participate in continuous improvement (CIP) and ongoing product development activities

• Translate customer and internal requirements into functional software designs

• Develop and deliver new releases of control system software

• Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve software defects using both live hardware and simulation environments

• Support device integration and production tool troubleshooting as needed

• Create and maintain software documentation, including requirements, procedures, and release notes

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor s degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field with 5+ years of relevant experience
  OR

• Master s degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field with 3+ years of experience

Technical Skills & Experience

• Strong knowledge of object-oriented design and development

• Hands-on experience with .NET, C#, C++, WinForms, WPF, COM, SQL

• Proficiency with Visual Studio and Windows-based application development

• Strong debugging skills in large, complex codebases

• Experience with software version control and managing multiple release versions

• Understanding of full software development lifecycle and critical application development

• Experience interfacing with external devices using Serial, Modbus, TCP/IP

• Strong background in device communication protocols and ability to implement from specifications

• Solid understanding of computer systems, configuration, and complex networking

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in the semiconductor industry

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
