Estimator III - Physical Security & Network Infrastructure

Location: Torrance, CA (Onsite with local travel)

Overview

Our client is seeking a highly motivated, charismatic, and experienced Estimator III to support a nationwide sales team from their Torrance, CA office. This position sits within the Engineering & Estimation Department (EED) and plays a critical role in supporting both Sales and Engineering through technical consultations, system design, and proposal development.
This role has a strong focus on Physical Security Systems and Enterprise IT Network Infrastructure, requiring deep technical expertise, customer-facing communication skills, and the ability to independently deliver accurate, high-quality estimates and proposals.
The ideal candidate brings extensive experience designing and estimating video surveillance, access control, and supporting network infrastructure, including switching, routing, wireless backhaul, server environments, and physical layer systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Participate in pre-sales meetings with clients and internal teams to identify, define, and document solution requirements
• Serve as a technical interface between manufacturers, suppliers, customers, purchasing teams, and internal stakeholders
• Review and interpret RFPs, RFQs, SOWs, specifications, construction drawings, and floor plans
• Design and estimate physical security solutions, including video surveillance, access control systems, and supporting infrastructure
• Prepare detailed written documentation from meetings, calls, site walks, and scope reviews
• Develop comprehensive bills of materials (BOMs) and accurate cost estimates
• Create conceptual and design drawings using tools such as IPVM or Bluebeam
• Evaluate and design supporting infrastructure, including:
  • Network switching and routing
  • Wireless backhaul
  • Server and storage environments
  • Structured cabling systems
• Review proposals and BOMs to ensure accuracy, compliance, and technical integrity
• Support Operations teams during project execution by addressing technical questions
• Participate in project kickoff meetings and handoffs
• Collaborate with Sales and Engineering to develop scalable, reliable, and standards-based system architectures

Required Qualifications

• Proven ability to independently perform a Level III Estimator role
• 8+ years of experience designing or estimating enterprise IT network infrastructure and physical security systems
• Strong expertise in video surveillance and access control system design
• Solid understanding of:
  • Network switching and routing
  • Wireless connectivity
  • Server infrastructure
• Experience supporting physical security systems within enterprise IT environments
• Knowledge of physical layer infrastructure, including fiber optics, copper cabling, and pathway systems
• Ability to read, understand, and interpret RFPs, specifications, and construction drawings
• Demonstrated ability to design systems that improve functionality and scalability
• Strong attention to detail with proactive problem-solving skills
• Understanding of project management principles and project lifecycles
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Strong customer service mindset

Preferred / Nice-to-Have Qualifications

• Experience with physical security platforms such as:
  • Verkada
  • Brivo
  • Hanwha
  • Axis
  • Avigilon
• Experience with Aruba and Cisco switching platforms
• Experience designing wireless backhaul solutions for surveillance or remote connectivity
• Experience with server-based video management systems (VMS)
• Prior field or installation experience with network or physical security systems
• Familiarity with structured cabling systems, including fiber and horizontal copper infrastructure

Preferred Certifications

• RCDD (Registered Communications Distribution Designer)
• Manufacturer certifications in video surveillance, access control, networking, or wireless technologies
• Industry certifications such as CCNA, Aruba, or physical security manufacturer certifications

Work Environment & Travel

• Approximately 80% onsite work at a desk
• Approximately 20% local travel for customer job walks and site visits
• Local travel to job sites is required

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $115000.00 - $130000.00/yr.
