EDI Architect

• Pharma EDI Architecture & Domain Leadership
• Architect endtoend EDI workflows across US pharmaceutical distribution, including:
• Order Management
• Shipment & Logistics
• Invoicing
• Pricing & Contract Management
• Chargebacks (844/849)
• Returns & Inventory (846)
• Sales Tracing (867)
• Define target architectures that support highvolume, lowlatency X12 processing.
• Ensure architectural alignment with DSCSA, FDA, DEA, HIPAA, lot/expiry tracking, serialization and other pharma compliance needs.
• Serve as the top EDI domain expert for crossfunctional teams.

EDI Transaction Set Expertise

• Provide architecture oversight for the following pharmacritical X12 transactions:
  850, 855, 856, 810, 832, 844, 849, 846, 867, 180, 852, 824
• Oversee mapping, transformation, routing logic, and validation rules.
• Ensure all workflows fully reflect pharma pricing, NDC data, chargeback rules, contract pricing, and wholesaler requirements.

Solution Design & CloudNative Architecture

• Define scalable, cloudnative architectures for EDI, B2B, and integration workflows on Microsoft Azure.
• Lead modernization from legacy systems such as TrustedLink and IBM Sterling Integrator to microservicesbased, containerized platforms.
• Architect hybrid integration patterns using:
• APIs
• Event-driven messaging
• Serverless functions
• Microservices
• Azure Logic Apps, Service Bus, Event Grid, AKS

Development, Mapping & Modernization

• Lead creation of EDI maps (X12, EDIFACT, HIPAA) and orchestrated workflows using IBM Sterling B2B Integrator and ITXA.
• Build reusable components for:
• Trading partner onboarding
• Validation frameworks
• Exception handling patterns
• Error notification workflows
• Guide development teams on mapping rules, data lineage, and integration patterns.

Cloud Enablement & Infrastructure Design

• Design and deploy Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) clusters for containerized workloads.
• Implement Azure Functions for serverless processing and automation.
• Configure Azure networking, security, identity (Entra ID), and environment hardening.
• Ensure cloud deployment follows best practices in availability, resilience, observability, and cost optimization.

Trading Partner Onboarding & Governance

• Define and govern trading partner integration frameworks, including:
• AS2, SFTP, HTTPS communication
• Partner certificate management
• Connectivity and onboarding checklists
• Mapping standards and certification
• Enable self-service onboarding using Azure-native services.
• Create standardized templates to reduce onboarding time and errors.

Performance, Monitoring & RCA

• Implement advanced observability using:
• Azure Monitor
• Application Insights
• Dynatrace
• Ensure high throughput and elastic scaling of EDI workloads.
• Lead root cause analysis (RCA) for highseverity incidents affecting shipments, pricing, or distributor operations.
• Define proactive monitoring dashboards, KPIs, and health checks for early issue detection.

Leadership, Mentoring & Collaboration

• Act as the highest escalation point for enterprise EDI issues.
• Mentor Senior BAs, SMEs, developers, and support teams on pharma EDI best practices.
• Facilitate solution workshops with business SMEs, wholesalers, distributors, and product owners.
• Provide oversight during SIT, UAT, and production rollouts.
• Drive continuous improvement across EDI and integration processes.

Required Qualifications

• 10+ years of hands-on experience in EDI integration and architecture.
• Mandatory US Pharma EDI experience across wholesalers/distributors.
• Proven background in cloud migration, legacy modernization, and Azurenative architecture.

Technical Skills

• Expertise in X12 EDI standards including pharma-specific sets (850/855/856/810/832/844/849/846/867/180).
• Strong hands-on experience with IBM Sterling B2B Integrator and ITXA.
• Solid understanding of AS2, SFTP, HTTPS, FTP protocols.
