Role Overview
We are seeking an exceptional individual to join a Controls organization as a Controls Technician for the service and construction of Building Management Systems (BMS) and Electrical Power Monitoring Systems (EPMS) within data centers. The ideal candidate will possess a technical background and experience in the installation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of industrial controls systems. This role involves participating in the installation, testing, and startup of equipment and control systems associated with BMS and EPMS deployments.
Key Responsibilities
- Deploy, service, and upgrade BMS and EPMS systems across multiple Data Centers.
- Perform diagnostics, troubleshooting, and maintenance of programming code and hardware.
- Conduct point-to-point checkouts between field devices and controllers.
- Handle the provisioning process for servers, controllers, and network configurations.
- Install, replace, configure, and calibrate sensors.
- Read and interpret electrical schematics and control panel drawings.
- Supervise low voltage electrical contractors to ensure compliance with installation requirements.
- Mentor and train facilities team members on the operation of BMS and EPMS systems.
- Support commissioning and systems-level testing, including root cause analysis.
- Create and maintain red-lined drawings and system documentation.
- Travel approximately 40% domestically to support related work.
Required Qualifications
Education: Technical (Military/Trade School) diploma or Associate degree with one year of experience related to industrial instrumentation/controls or equivalent experience.
Experience: A minimum of one year of experience working with computer components and operating systems. A minimum of one year of experience with mission-critical low and medium-voltage electrical and/or mechanical systems.
Technical Skills: A basic understanding of industrial controls systems, controllers, and programming, including troubleshooting of analog, discrete, and networked input/output field signals.
Preferred Qualifications
- One year of experience working in a Data Center or another mission-critical environment.
- International Society of Automation (ISA) Certified Controls System Technician (CCST) Level I or higher certification.
- Fundamental knowledge of network design and layout, as well as low voltage (copper/fiber) cabling.
Compensation & Benefits
The pay rate for this position is between $36.00 and $46.00 per hour.
