Job Title: Database Administrator Consultant
Location: Columbia, SC (Hybrid: 3 Days Onsite / 2 Days Remote)
Duration: 12 Months

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Database Administrator to support enterprise-level database environments within a government agency setting. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in Oracle database administration, performance tuning, and high availability configurations, along with the ability to collaborate with development teams and support critical business applications.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and administer Oracle database environments (11g and 12c)
• Perform database installation, configuration, monitoring, and maintenance
• Analyze and optimize database performance, including tuning and indexing strategies
• Design and implement database structures, data models, and capacity planning strategies
• Configure and maintain high availability and disaster recovery solutions
• Perform backup and recovery operations using RMAN
• Support database deployments and collaborate with development teams
• Monitor system health and proactively address performance or capacity issues
• Maintain documentation for database configurations, processes, and procedures
• Ensure alignment with software development lifecycle (SDLC) practices

Technical Skills & Experience

• Strong understanding of Oracle database architecture and physical structure
• Experience with database performance analysis and optimization
• Hands-on experience with:
  • Oracle Data Guard
  • Oracle Enterprise Manager
  • Oracle Automatic Storage Management (ASM)
  • Oracle ACFS
  • Oracle GoldenGate
• Experience with Oracle RAC and database installations
• Proficiency in backup and recovery using RMAN
• Experience with database planning, scaling, and capacity management
• Exposure to ITIL, ITSM, DevOps, Managed Services, or SOA operational models

Required Qualifications

Education:

• Bachelor s degree in a technical or business-related field

Experience:

• 7+ years of experience in a development or service administration role
• 5+ years of Oracle database administration experience
• 5+ years of experience working with development teams

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in enterprise or government environments
• Strong background in high availability and disaster recovery solutions
