Summary

Overview

Our client is seeking a Senior Director of Information Technology to lead enterprise IT strategy, operations, and transformation for a rapidly growing, multi-site field services organization. This executive leadership role is responsible for the strategic direction and day-to-day delivery of all technology services, partnering closely with executive leadership to align technology investments with business objectives.

The organization is experiencing significant growth through both organic expansion and acquisitions, creating an opportunity for an experienced player-coach IT leader who can balance strategic planning with hands-on execution. The successful candidate will lead a lean internal IT organization while managing key third-party service providers and driving modernization across infrastructure, applications, cybersecurity, and service delivery.

Key Responsibilities

IT Strategy & Leadership
  • Develop and execute the company's overall IT strategy in alignment with business objectives.
  • Partner with executive leadership to identify technology solutions that improve operational efficiency and support business growth.
  • Lead organizational planning, staffing, and development for the IT department.
  • Build and maintain an IT roadmap that prioritizes strategic initiatives and business needs.
  • Establish governance processes for project management, change management, portfolio management, and technology investments.
  • Position IT as a trusted business partner focused on customer service and operational excellence.

Infrastructure & IT Operations
  • Oversee all enterprise infrastructure, network, cloud, and end-user computing environments.
  • Lead Service Desk operations and improve IT support for a geographically dispersed workforce.
  • Manage enterprise networking, mobile device management, endpoint support, and infrastructure operations.
  • Develop and monitor service levels while driving continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Oversee disaster recovery, business continuity planning, and operational resilience.
  • Manage relationships with infrastructure vendors and managed service providers.

Enterprise Applications
  • Lead enterprise application strategy, support, maintenance, and enhancement efforts.
  • Oversee ERP, field service management, productivity platforms, reporting, analytics, and integration technologies.
  • Partner with business leaders to identify opportunities for process improvement through technology.
  • Manage software licensing, vendor relationships, and application lifecycle management.
  • Support implementation of new enterprise applications and system enhancements.

Cybersecurity
  • Own enterprise cybersecurity strategy, architecture, and operational security.
  • Ensure appropriate security policies, controls, governance, and incident response processes are in place.
  • Manage cybersecurity vendors and managed security service providers.
  • Promote security best practices across the organization while maintaining regulatory compliance.

Financial & Vendor Management
  • Develop and manage annual IT operating and capital budgets.
  • Lead technology investment planning and governance.
  • Negotiate and manage vendor relationships, contracts, and service agreements.
  • Ensure IT investments deliver measurable business value.

Qualifications
  • 10+ years of progressive Information Technology experience.
  • 5+ years leading enterprise IT organizations.
  • Experience managing infrastructure, enterprise applications, cybersecurity, and IT operations.
  • Proven experience managing third-party vendors and managed service providers.
  • Experience supporting geographically dispersed or field-based organizations.
  • Strong background managing multi-million-dollar IT budgets.
  • Experience leading Service Desk, infrastructure, networking, cloud technologies, and enterprise applications.
  • Knowledge of SaaS platforms, commercial software, and internally developed applications.
  • Strong understanding of IT governance, change management, release management, and IT service management (ITIL).
  • Experience with mergers and acquisitions, including technology integration, is highly preferred.
  • Experience with ERP systems and Field Service Management platforms is a plus.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field preferred.
  • MBA or advanced degree is a plus.
