STC is seeking candidates to hire a Full Stack Developer to support the National Weather Service (NWS) on
the AWIPS Application Environment contract. AWIPS (Advanced Weather Interactive Processing System) is the mission-critical platform used by forecasters at National Weather Service sites nationwide to analyze environmental data and issue the forecasts, watches, and warnings that help protect lives and property.
Join our team to develop and implement modern web-based applications in the AWS cloud. As a Full Stack Developer, you will build responsive, high-performance web applications that deliver critical meteorological visualization capabilities to weather forecasters and analysts, transforming traditional desktop tools into cloud-native web solutions.
The successful candidate will work closely with software engineers, UX designers, meteorologists, and technical stakeholders within a collaborative Agile environment supporting modern web technologies, cloud-native services, and operational forecasting systems.
Responsibilities- Develop frontend components for web applications using modern JavaScript frameworks and libraries.
- Create responsive, interactive user interfaces for complex meteorological data visualization.
- Implement backend services and APIs to support web-based weather visualization tools.
- Build data processing pipelines for meteorological datasets in AWS cloud environments.
- Develop interactive mapping components and geospatial visualization features.
- Integrate with AWS services including S3, Lambda, API Gateway, EKS, DynamoDB, and related technologies to create scalable solutions.
- Implement efficient data handling techniques for large meteorological datasets.
- Collaborate with UX designers to create intuitive interfaces for weather forecasting applications.
- Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code following team standards.
- Develop and execute unit tests, integration tests, and end-to-end tests.
- Participate in code reviews and contribute to continuous improvement of development practices.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues across the full application stack.
- Collaborate with meteorologists and domain experts to understand operational requirements.

Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.
- 2+ years of experience in full stack web development.
- Proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript and modern frontend frameworks such as React, Angular, or Vue.js.
- Experience with HTML5, CSS3, and responsive web design.
- Knowledge of backend development using Node.js, Python, or Java.
- Experience with RESTful API design and implementation.
- Familiarity with AWS cloud services and serverless architecture.
