azure Cloud Governance Engineer (Remote)

We are seeking a highly skilled Azure Cloud Governance Engineer to design, implement, and maintain enterprise-wide cloud governance frameworks across Microsoft Azure environments. The ideal candidate will ensure secure, compliant, cost-efficient, and well-architected cloud operations while enabling scalable cloud adoption across the organization.

You will work closely with cloud architecture, security, DevOps, and infrastructure teams to define policies, enforce standards, and drive automation for governance and compliance.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and implement Azure governance frameworks including management groups, subscriptions, policies, and blueprints
• Establish and enforce Azure Policy, RBAC, and access controls
• Implement cloud security and compliance standards aligned with industry regulations (SOC2, HIPAA, ISO 27001 as applicable)
• Monitor and optimize cloud cost management (FinOps practices) across Azure resources
• Develop and maintain Azure landing zones following Microsoft Cloud Adoption Framework
• Automate governance controls using Azure Policy, ARM templates, Bicep, and Terraform
• Collaborate with security teams to implement Azure Security Center / Microsoft Defender for Cloud
• Manage identity and access governance using Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD)
• Conduct cloud audits and ensure continuous compliance monitoring
• Provide recommendations for cloud architecture improvements and risk mitigation
• Support DevOps teams in ensuring compliant CI/CD pipelines in Azure environments

Required Skills & Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in cloud infrastructure with at least 3+ years in Microsoft Azure
• Strong experience in Azure governance, policy management, and enterprise cloud architecture
• Hands-on expertise with:
  • Azure Policy, Azure Blueprints
  • Azure Resource Manager (ARM) / Bicep / Terraform
  • Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD), RBAC, IAM
  • Azure Monitor, Log Analytics
• Strong understanding of cloud security best practices and compliance frameworks
• Experience with FinOps / cloud cost optimization strategies
• Knowledge of networking, virtualization, and hybrid cloud environments
• Familiarity with DevOps tools and CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions)
• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Microsoft Azure certifications (AZ-104, AZ-305, AZ-400, or SC-300)
• Experience with multi-cloud governance (AWS or Google Cloud Platform exposure is a plus)
• Background in enterprise-scale cloud environments
• Experience working in regulated industries (finance, healthcare, government)

Nice to Have

• Experience implementing Zero Trust architecture in Azure
• Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) best practices at scale
• Scripting skills in PowerShell, Python, or Bash
