Position Overview
Client is seeking two experienced Senior Backend .NET Developers to join a team focused on improving and modernizing the prior authorization process for specialty care.
The team is working to make prior authorization reviews faster and more efficient, reducing delays for providers and helping patients receive appropriate care sooner. The work will focus on identifying opportunities to streamline processes, automate manual activities, improve application efficiency, and reduce overall costs.
This is a hands-on, backend-focused development position requiring strong experience across the Microsoft technology stack, particularly C#/.NET and Azure. The ideal candidate will also be comfortable adapting to emerging AI development tools and utilizing solutions such as GitHub Copilot to accelerate software development.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, enhance, and maintain backend applications using C#, .NET Core, .NET Framework, and ASP.NET MVC.
- Develop solutions supporting the intake, processing, and review of specialty-care prior authorizations.
- Identify opportunities to streamline and automate existing processes to improve overall application and operational efficiency.
- Develop and support applications within a Microsoft Azure environment.
- Deploy, maintain, and troubleshoot applications and backend services in Azure.
- Work with Azure-based application configuration, messaging, security, telemetry, and monitoring capabilities.
- Develop and maintain data-driven applications utilizing Microsoft SQL Server.
- Utilize GitHub Copilot or similar AI-assisted development tools to accelerate development and improve engineering productivity.
- Collaborate with engineering, QA, product, and business teams to deliver scalable and reliable solutions.
- Adapt to evolving AI tools and development practices as AI becomes increasingly incorporated into the software development lifecycle.
Required Qualifications
- Strong professional backend development experience with C# and .NET.
- Hands-on development experience with .NET Core and .NET Framework.
- Experience developing applications using ASP.NET MVC.
- Strong overall experience developing and supporting applications within Microsoft Azure environments.
- Experience deploying and supporting cloud-based applications in Azure.
- Strong experience with Microsoft SQL Server.
- Experience developing and supporting production-grade backend applications.
- Ability and willingness to incorporate AI-assisted development tools into day-to-day software engineering.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to adapt to evolving technologies and development practices.
- Ability to work effectively within a remote, collaborative development environment.
Azure Environment
The team utilizes a variety of Microsoft Azure technologies, which may include:
- Azure Virtual Machines
- Azure Functions
- Azure Service Bus
- Azure Key Vault
- Azure App Configuration
- Azure-based application telemetry and monitoring
Candidates are not required to have experience with every individual Azure service listed above. The priority is strong overall, hands-on Azure experience and the ability to quickly learn and work with the specific Azure technologies utilized by the team.
AI-Assisted Development
Client is looking for developers who are comfortable adapting to the growing use of AI within software engineering.
Experience with GitHub Copilot is beneficial, but experience with other AI-assisted development tools is also relevant. Candidates do not need to be AI or machine learning engineers. The emphasis is on the ability to leverage AI as an accelerator for software development, including areas such as coding, troubleshooting, documentation, and productivity.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience using GitHub Copilot or similar AI-assisted development tools.
- Experience leveraging AI tools to improve development productivity.
- Test automation experience or experience collaborating closely with automated QA teams.
- Experience within healthcare technology.
- Experience with prior authorization, utilization management, specialty care, or related healthcare workflows.
Ideal Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate is a heavy backend .NET developer with strong hands-on experience in C#, .NET Core, .NET Framework, ASP.NET MVC, Microsoft Azure, and SQL Server.
Strong overall Azure experience is more important than experience with any particular Azure service. Candidates should be able to demonstrate experience developing, deploying, and supporting applications in an Azure environment.
The candidate should also be adaptable to AI-assisted development. Deep AI/ML expertise is not required. The goal is to find an experienced backend engineer who is comfortable using tools such as GitHub Copilot to improve development efficiency.
Test automation experience is a plus, but not a requirement, as Evolent has a separate QA automation team.
