Desktop Support Technician

Location: Columbia, SC

Work Arrangement: Fully Onsite

Position Type: Contract (6 Months, potential for extension)

Role Overview

We are seeking a proactive Desktop Support Technician for a local government agency focused on law enforcement. This is an IT-centric, service-level-driven environment where you will provide endpoint device support for both central and remote locations.

The ideal candidate is a self-starter with a strong ethical background who can work under limited supervision to manage hardware, software, and network connectivity issues.

Primary Responsibilities

• Hardware & Software Support: Install, configure, and maintain computer hardware, software, printers, and network connectivity.
• Systems Administration: Update Active Directory information, conduct password resets, and manage system configuration updates using SCCM.
• Security Monitoring: Monitor for cyber threats (viruses, ransomware, bots) and assist in network troubleshooting for endpoint devices.
• Inventory Management: Aid in the inventory of computer equipment across various regions in South Carolina.
• Mobile Support: Troubleshoot and manage MDM-managed iPhones.
• Documentation & Training: Create technical and user documentation, deliver technical training, and conduct knowledge transfer sessions via recorded screen sharing.

Required Skills & Experience

• 5+ Years: Enterprise desktop support and customer service experience.
• Desktop Admin: Skilled in Windows 7 and Windows 10/11 Enterprise administration.
• 3+ Years: System Administration experience.
• Technical Proficiency: Professional experience with GPO (Group Policy Object), SCCM, and MDM (Mobile Device Management).
• Soft Skills: Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate with various organizational levels.

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of AirWatch, MS Intune, or Lansweeper.
• Active certifications: A+, Network+, Security+, or MCSA: Windows 10.

Education

• Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or Technology Management (or equivalent work experience).
