Role Summary
As a Senior Network Engineer, you will lead the design, implementation, and optimization of core network platforms with a primary focus on data center networking and a secondary focus on remote office connectivity, cloud networking, security, SD WAN, and secure access. You will deliver robust, scalable, secure, and automated services that keep critical systems available and high performing. You will work closely with Network Services, Solution and Enterprise Architects, Infrastructure Project Managers, and Information Security to deliver solutions aligned to standards and architectural designs.
In this role you will design and support Layer 2 and Layer 3 production networks, integrate cloud and edge connectivity, and drive automation to reduce toil and improve consistency. You will also contribute to lifecycle management, documentation, and knowledge sharing across the team.
Key Responsibilities
• Design, implement, and support Layer 2 and Layer 3 data center and enterprise networks using Cisco technologies including ACI, Nexus, ASR and ISR along with spine leaf, VXLAN, and OTV
• Deliver network and security components for initiatives including data center builds and refreshes, site rollouts, SD WAN deployments, Cloud OnRamp for Azure and AWS, and Fortinet platform modernization
• Develop and maintain automation for provisioning, configuration management, validation, and troubleshooting using Ansible, Terraform, Python, and Git based workflows
• Operate within a Plan Build Operate model and participate in a weekly on call rotation to support the production network
• Monitor performance and availability, resolve complex incidents through ServiceNow, and optimize configurations for stability and resilience
• Design and operate secure connectivity across data centers, cloud environments, and remote sites including integration with Zscaler, Palo Alto Networks, Cisco ASA legacy environments, and Fortinet full stack technologies such as FortiGate, FortiManager, FortiAnalyzer, FortiClient, and FortiSASE
• Maintain accurate diagrams, configurations, and procedures and mentor junior engineers on networking, security, and automation best practices
Key Requirements
• 8 or more years of experience in network engineering with a strong focus on data center and enterprise networking
• 4 or more years designing and supporting software defined networking with Cisco ACI and spine leaf architectures
• Expert knowledge of TCP IP, BGP, OSPF, VLANs, VPN, LAN, WAN, and WLAN
• Hands on experience with SD WAN and Cloud OnRamp for Azure and AWS and cloud networking constructs including VPC, VNet, and routing
• Proficiency with Fortinet solutions including FortiGate, FortiManager, FortiAnalyzer, FortiClient, and FortiSASE and experience with Cisco ASA, Palo Alto Networks, and Zscaler
• Strong automation skills using Ansible, Terraform, and Python with familiarity in CI and CD pipelines and API driven integrations
• Experience with monitoring and diagnostics including SolarWinds Orion, packet capture tools, NetFlow, IP SLA, QoS, Multicast, and traffic engineering
• Clear written and verbal communication, strong documentation habits, and the ability to collaborate with infrastructure, security, applications, and support teams
Preferred Qualifications
• Cisco professional level certification CCNP, CCDP, or CCIE or equivalent experience
• Fortinet certifications such as NSE 4 through 7 or equivalent experience
• Experience with Cisco Identity Services Engine and other network access control platforms
• Experience with Cisco Unified Communications Manager, wireless LAN controllers, load balancers, and WAN optimization
• Advanced automation or DevNet experience using Git based workflows and CI and CD practices
