Job Summary

The Virginia Information Technology Agency is seeking an experienced Oracle Database Administrator (DBA) to administer, maintain, develop, and implement policies and procedures that ensure the security and integrity of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) databases.

The resource will be responsible for Oracle database administration, data modeling, database design, data access and table maintenance, performance tuning, capacity management, replication, distributed database support, and database migrations to OCI.

Work Arrangement

The manager has provided the following clarification:

This needs to be a resource within driving distance. They will need to come in initially to pick up equipment and receive an orientation. Thereafter it will largely be remote, but there will be times when they need to come into the office.

Important: This is a part-time role requiring 20 hours per week.

Key Responsibilities

• Administer and maintain Oracle ERP databases.
• Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure database security and integrity.
• Implement data models and database designs.
• Maintain data access and database table structures.
• Troubleshoot Oracle database performance and capacity issues.
• Support database replication and distributed database environments.
• Support Oracle databases in OCI and on-premises environments.

• Perform Oracle database migrations to OCI.
• Support Oracle RAC and ASM environments on Linux.
• Support Oracle Data Guard Physical Standby.
• Perform RMAN backup and recovery.
• Perform database performance tuning, security, and patching.
• Utilize Oracle Data Pump export/import utilities.
• Work with Oracle Enterprise Manager.
• Maintain database and technical documentation.
• Troubleshoot complex database issues and provide effective resolutions.
• Work independently under general supervision while exercising sound technical judgment.
• Communicate effectively with technical teams and management.

Required Skills

Candidate Requirements

• Candidate must physically reside within the United States for the duration of the assignment.
• Candidate must be within driving distance of the Virginia worksite.
• Candidate must be available to work 20 hours per week.
• Candidate must be willing to report onsite initially for equipment pickup and orientation.
• Candidate must be available for occasional onsite visits as required by the agency.
• Strong Oracle DBA troubleshooting and communication skills are required.
