We are seeking a highly skilled and results-driven Engineering Project Manager to lead the successful delivery of large-scale industrial capital projects from concept through commissioning. This role combines project management leadership with deep technical expertise to execute capital plans, optimize plant infrastructure, and deliver measurable improvements to safety, quality, cost, and operational performance. The ideal candidate will be adept at forming and leading multidisciplinary teams, managing budgets and schedules, and ensuring strict compliance with technical specifications, regulatory requirements, and corporate standards while engaging stakeholders across the organization to align project goals and execution.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Project Leadership & Planning
  • Champion a Safety First culture across all project phases, ensuring that safety considerations are embedded in planning, design, execution, and commissioning.
  • Lead the planning, execution, and completion of large industrial CAPEX projects, ensuring alignment with business cases, budgets, schedules, and quality objectives.
  • Form and lead cross-functional project teams, including project engineers, project controls personnel, construction managers, and safety managers, to ensure coordinated and effective project execution.
  • Engage and collaborate with stakeholders across the corporation-including operations, maintenance, procurement, finance, EHS, and other functional departments-to build consensus and ensure alignment on project objectives, priorities, and execution strategies.
  • Develop scopes of work, feasibility studies, and cost/benefit analyses to support funding requests and strategic investment decisions.
  • Prepare and present capital appropriation or cost expenditure requests to plant and corporate management.
  • Engineering & Technical Oversight
  • Direct, review, and approve engineering designs, technical specifications, and drawings, ensuring compliance with applicable codes, standards, and safety regulations.
  • Select and apply best available technologies by leveraging internal expertise and industry networks.
  • Oversee and manage outside engineering firms and contractors, including design deliverables, inspection services, and installation work.
  • Execution & Coordination
  • Coordinate cross-functional collaboration with operations, maintenance, procurement, quality, accounting, and EHS teams to ensure seamless project delivery.
  • Manage project risks by identifying potential technical, operational, and safety concerns, implementing mitigation strategies, and ensuring business continuity.
  • Monitor equipment manufacturing and delivery schedules to ensure on-time installation.
  • Oversee commissioning, start-up, and acceptance testing of new systems, including training for operating personnel.
  • Execute complex capital projects on brownfield sites or within existing operating facilities with minimal impact to ongoing business operations
  • Financial & Schedule Management
  • Develop and maintain detailed project schedules using tools such as MS Project or Primavera.
  • Track expenditures, control costs, and ensure adherence to approved budgets.
  • Implement change management processes to control scope, cost, and schedule impacts.
  • Compliance & Continuous Improvement
  • In alignment with the Safety First core value, develop and implement detailed project safety plans for all phases of each project, while engaging internal and external contributors to drive exceptional safety performance.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety, environmental, and corporate governance policies throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Identify opportunities to improve project execution methods, reduce costs, and enhance facility performance through Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Stay current on new technologies, materials, and methods through industry engagement, plant visits, and professional development.

Qualifications & Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, Industrial, or related Engineering discipline (required).
  • 7+ years of project management experience in large industrial capital projects (steel, oil & gas, power, heavy manufacturing, or equivalent).
  • Proven experience managing the full project lifecycle-from feasibility and design through procurement, construction, commissioning, and closeout.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead multidisciplinary and multicultural teams.
  • Knowledge of industrial safety and environmental compliance standards.
  • Demonstrated ability to run multiple complex projects in parallel.
  • Proficiency with project management tools (MS Project, Primavera) and engineering design software (AutoCAD or equivalent) (preferred).
  • Experience within the steel industry and/or heavy metals manufacturing (preferred).
  • Formal safety training such as OSHA 10-Hour or OSHA 30-Hour certification (preferred).
  • PMP or equivalent project management certification (preferred).
  • Experience in Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma methodologies (preferred).

What We Offer
  • Competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package.
  • Opportunity to manage high-impact, high-value industrial projects.
  • Professional growth and advancement within a collaborative, dynamic environment.
