Skillset / Experience: Overview:
We are looking for an experienced Operational Technology (OT) Architect to help design and guide the deployment of technology solutions supporting manufacturing and distribution operations. This role will focus on building scalable architectures that connect industrial automation systems, plant-floor applications, enterprise platforms, and data environments across multiple facilities.
The ideal candidate brings strong experience working with manufacturing execution platforms, automation technologies, industrial networks, and enterprise integrations, along with the ability to translate operational requirements into reliable and secure technical solutions.
Core Responsibilities:
- Design integrated technology solutions that connect plant automation, manufacturing execution platforms, warehouse systems, and enterprise applications
- Develop architecture standards to support manufacturing operations across multiple facilities
- Provide technical leadership for MES platform deployments, including solutions such as TrakSYS and AVEVA
- Work closely with automation technologies including Rockwell Automation environments (FactoryTalk) and other industrial control platforms
- Architect solutions supporting SCADA environments and plant visualization systems
- Define integration patterns between industrial systems and enterprise applications using technologies such as OPC UA, MQTT, REST APIs, and event-based messaging
- Lead data architecture design including historians (e.g., OSIsoft PI System) and enterprise data platforms
- Establish architecture standards aligned with ISA-95 and Purdue Model concepts
- Design plant data architectures that incorporate industrial historians and enterprise analytics platforms
- Support secure OT environments by aligning designs with modern industrial cybersecurity practices, including segmented networks and controlled remote access
- Collaborate with teams across controls engineering, IT infrastructure, cybersecurity, and enterprise applications
- Provide architecture guidance and technical governance for initiatives impacting plant systems and operational technologies
Required Experience:- Approximately 10+ years of experience supporting industrial systems, manufacturing technology, or OT architecture
- Hands-on familiarity with PLC platforms such as Rockwell ControlLogix / CompactLogix or Siemens S7 environments
- Strong understanding of SCADA and HMI technologies
- Experience implementing or supporting manufacturing execution systems (MES) including platforms such as TrakSYS or AVEVA
- Experience connecting plant systems with enterprise applications such as SAP or Oracle
- Knowledge of industrial communication standards including OPC UA, Modbus, and Ethernet/IP
- Experience designing environments that span edge systems, on-premises infrastructure, and cloud platforms
- Familiarity with industrial data historians and real-time operational data architecture
- Understanding of OT security frameworks and industrial network segmentation practices
Preferred Background:- Experience supporting large manufacturing organizations with multiple facilities
- Previous work in industrial automation, controls engineering, or systems integration
- Familiarity with warehouse technologies and WMS system integrations
- Exposure to cloud environments such as Azure or AWS supporting industrial or IIoT solutions
- Certifications related to industrial cybersecurity, enterprise architecture, or automation technologies
