Overview
Prominent is seeking an experienced REMOTE Senior Data Governance Analyst to provide staff augmentation support for a state transportation agency's Data Management initiative. This role will work closely with the agency's Data Steward to support the completion of the enterprise data catalog and advance ongoing data governance efforts.
The successful candidate will help gather, document, organize, review, and improve critical business and technical metadata while partnering with stakeholders across the organization to ensure the accuracy, consistency, and completeness of data assets.

Duration: 1-Year Contract
Compensation: $65 - $73/hour (W2) Plus Benefits
Responsibilities
- Support the Data Steward in executing day-to-day data catalog activities.
- Coordinate outreach efforts with business and technical stakeholders.
- Prepare interview guides, questionnaires, and supporting materials.
- Conduct and document stakeholder interviews and information-gathering sessions.
- Capture business and technical metadata for inclusion in the enterprise data catalog.
- Track outstanding questions, issues, and follow-up actions.
- Review catalog entries for completeness, consistency, and adherence to data governance standards.
- Identify gaps, inconsistencies, and opportunities for improvement in catalog content and supporting documentation.
- Assist with data management and data governance initiatives across the organization.
- Develop meeting summaries, status reports, and project documentation.
- Provide recommendations to improve data quality, metadata management, and governance practices.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in Data Governance, Data Management, Business Analysis, or related disciplines.
- Experience gathering and documenting business and technical requirements.
- Ability to work with both business and technical stakeholders.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and documentation skills.
- Experience creating and maintaining data dictionaries, metadata repositories, or data catalogs.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting government agencies, particularly transportation organizations.
- Experience with enterprise data catalog platforms such as Microsoft Purview, Collibra, Alation, Informatica, or similar solutions.
- Understanding of data governance frameworks, metadata management, data lineage, and data stewardship practices.
- Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP) certification.
- Experience working with State Departments of Transportation (DOTs).
