About the RoleThe IT Deployment Technician executes hardware and software rollouts across offices, labs, and remote sites. You will stage and provision devices, perform onsite installations, coordinate logistics, and ensure users are fully operational on day one. The role blends hands-on deployment work with methodical documentation, change control, and excellent customer service during floor-walking and post-go-live support.
What You'll Do- Prepare and stage laptops, desktops, thin clients, and mobile devices using standard images and provisioning methods (e.g., Intune Autopilot, SCCM/MECM, Jamf, MDT).
- Perform onsite deployments, including desk-side install, profile migration, printers and peripherals, dual monitors, docking stations, and user cutovers.
- Enroll and configure endpoints in MDM/endpoint management; apply policies for encryption, VPN, Wi-Fi, certificates, and required applications.
- Execute site surveys, equipment audits, and readiness checks ahead of moves, expansions, and new site builds.
- Coordinate logistics: shipping/receiving, RMA processing, asset tagging, e-waste and decommissioning.
- Update tickets, asset records, and deployment trackers; maintain accurate CMDB/asset management data.
- Provide floor-walking hypercare after go-live, resolving issues and escalating defects to engineering when needed.
- Perform light network tasks as directed (rack/stack small equipment, patching, basic port/VLAN verifications with network team).
- Support basic conference room readiness (displays, Teams/Zoom rooms, HDMI/USB-C, webcams, speakerphones) for day-one usability.
- Follow change, incident, and safety procedures; create rollback plans and validate success criteria for each deployment wave.
Must-Have Qualifications- Professional IT deployment or deskside support experience in an enterprise setting.
- Hands-on experience with endpoint provisioning and imaging tools (such as Intune/Autopilot, SCCM/MECM, Jamf, MDT, or equivalent).
- Working knowledge of Windows 10/11 and macOS setup, profile/data migrations, and common enterprise apps (Microsoft 365, Teams, OneDrive).
- Familiarity with MDM and endpoint security basics, including disk encryption, MFA/SSO profiles, VPN, Wi-Fi certificates, and software distribution.
- Comfort with ticketing and documentation (ServiceNow, Jira, or similar) and accurate asset tracking.
- Understanding of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN) sufficient to validate connectivity and escalate effectively.
- Strong customer service skills, clear communication, and the ability to work independently at remote sites.
Nice to Have- Scripting for automation or post-deployment tasks (PowerShell, Bash).
- PXE/WDS/MDT build pipelines, driver/package management, and task sequence troubleshooting.
- Azure AD/Entra ID, Group Policy, Okta, or identity lifecycle exposure.
- Mobile device deployment (iOS/Android) with Intune or other MDMs.
- Printer provisioning and print server concepts; label and barcode scanner rollouts.
- Basic switch/port validation and collaboration with network teams during cutovers.
- Experience with large, multi-site refreshes, acquisitions, or new office builds.
Physical and Work Conditions- Ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs; frequent walking, bending, and ladder use for cabling and mounting.
- Extended periods of standing or desk-side work during deployment waves.
- Regional travel between sites; valid driver's license and reliable transportation may be required.
- After-hours and weekend work during maintenance windows and go-lives.
Success Metrics- On-time delivery of deployment waves with defined acceptance criteria met.
- First-day success rate and low post-deployment incident volume.
- Ticket, asset, and CMDB accuracy; adherence to change windows and rollback plans.
- Positive end-user satisfaction scores and effective cross-team collaboration.
Tools and Technologies You May Use- Endpoint management: Intune/Autopilot, SCCM/MECM, Jamf, MDT
- Identity and collaboration: Entra ID/Azure AD, Okta, Microsoft 365/Teams
