Overview

Lutron is seeking a seasoned engineering leader with deep expertise on mechanical design, architecture and manufacturability who is passionate about teaching the craft of engineering to junior and mid-career engineers as they create world-class, smart lighting and lighting control systems. In this position, you will help to systematically upgrade Lutron engineers' ability to solve hard, cross-disciplinary problems and you will share your knowledge and experiences through hands on mentorship, coaching and demonstration. This role blends deep technical excellence with rigorous quality thinking and practical strategies for developing and deploying operational capabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Teach the Craft: Provide practical coaching by working closely with engineering teams and product managers throughout every stage of the product lifecycle, offering hands-on guidance and fostering learning during project work.
  • Build Durable Capability: Capture and codify best practices into playbooks, methodology and short courses.
  • Mentor at Scale: Establish apprenticeship models and partner with project teams to guide through doing.
  • Elevate Problem Solving: Facilitate critical thinking on ambiguous, high-impact problems.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or equivalent degree
  • Minimum, cumulative GPA of 3.00 for all degrees earned
  • 25+ years of experience designing, developing and shipping physical products with experience driving multi-disciplinary problem solving
