Job Role and Responsibility: Xilinx, Inc., a subsidiary of AMD, Inc., is hiring SMTS Systems Design Eng. to research, design, develop, and/or test electronic components and systems for semiconductor and related device manufacturing, employing knowledge of electronic theory. Design a complete and complex framework, system or product. Define processes for technical platforms, system specifications, input/output and working parameters for hardware and/or software compatibility. Conceive system interfaces and business application prototypes. Identify, analyze and resolve system design weaknesses. Influence the shaping of future products by contributing to the framework (architecture) used across multiple products or systems. Provide multi-layered technical expertise for next generation initiatives. Evaluate all aspects of the process flow from high-level designs to synthesis, place and route, and timing and power use. Work on problems of moderate scope where analysis of situations or data requires a review of a variety of factors. Drive projects or processes of significant technical importance. Exercise independent judgment within defined company procedures and practices to select methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results. Utilize knowledge of computers and electronics, including circuit boards, processors, chips, and electronic equipment, as well as knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles. Apply knowledge of engineering principles, best practices, and technologies to the design, development, and testing of various AMD products.

Qualifications: Degree required

Master's degree or foreign equivalent in Electronics Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related field.

Qualifications: Amount and type of experience required: Four (4) years of experience required or a related engineering role.

Alternate combination of education and experience: Employer will alternatively accept a Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Electronics Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related field and six (6) years of progressive post baccalaureate experience in the job offered or a closely related engineering role.

Specific skills required: The following skills are required:

Position requires Four (4) years of experience in the following:

  • High speed digital and Mixed signal board design;
  • Designing interfaces including I2C, SPI, USB, Ethernet, MIPI, PCIe, Flash and DDR Memories;
  • Schematic capture and PCB design;
  • CAD tools such as OrCAD or Mentor Graphics;
  • Board bring-up testing and troubleshooting using high speed Oscilloscopes, Logic analyzers, and lab instruments;
  • FPGA/SoC board hardware design and debugging hardware software interface using JTAG debuggers and IDE tools;
  • Design Verification Testing; and
  • EMI/EMC testing, Safety testing, Regulatory Standards Compliance, and Product Certification.
