About the Role

CBTS is seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to lead complex, client-facing technology engagements within our Professional Services organization.

This role goes beyond managing schedules and reporting status. Our Senior Project Managers take ownership of delivery outcomes, build trusted client relationships, anticipate and resolve challenges, and balance customer commitments with financial and operational performance.

We're looking for someone who brings structure without unnecessary complexity, exercises sound judgment, and knows how to move work forward even when the path isn't fully defined.

You'll work across technical teams, business stakeholders, partners, and clients to deliver meaningful outcomes while contributing to the continued evolution of our PMO practices.

What You'll Do

Own Project Delivery

Lead complex technology engagements from initiation through successful delivery, acceptance, and closure.

Establish clear scope, deliverables, milestones, success criteria, and accountability across project teams.

Develop and maintain practical delivery plans appropriate to project size, complexity, and risk.

Proactively identify risks, dependencies, and delivery challenges, driving resolution before they affect customer commitments.

Take ownership when projects go off track, developing recovery plans, recommending trade-offs, and leading execution.

Ensure project information, forecasts, and status reporting are accurate, current, and actionable.

Drive Financial and Commercial Performance

Own project financial performance, including budget management, resource consumption, forecasting, and margin awareness.

Identify scope changes, unplanned effort, and commercial risks early, ensuring appropriate change control and customer alignment.

Partner with delivery, sales, and operations teams to manage financial expectations and protect project profitability.

Understand how delivery decisions affect both the customer experience and business outcomes.

Lead Clients and Cross-Functional Teams

Build trusted relationships with customers, technical teams, account leaders, and executive stakeholders.

Facilitate decisions, resolve competing priorities, and create alignment across teams without relying on formal authority.

Communicate clearly and transparently, particularly when commitments, timelines, or outcomes are at risk.

Bring recommendations and options to stakeholders, not simply escalations or status updates.

Develop sufficient understanding of the technical solution to identify dependencies, ask informed questions, and challenge assumptions.

Balance customer advocacy with responsible delivery and commercial commitments.

Improve How We Deliver

Apply the appropriate level of project governance based on engagement complexity, risk, and customer needs.

Identify opportunities to simplify processes, improve visibility, and eliminate recurring delivery challenges.

Contribute to project retrospectives, sharing lessons learned and helping turn those insights into practical improvements.

Support the adoption and evolution of PMO delivery standards, tools, and reporting practices.

Mentor less-experienced project managers and contribute to a collaborative, accountable team culture.

What You'll Bring

Required Qualifications

8-10+ years of progressive project or program management experience, including leadership of complex technology initiatives.

Demonstrated success leading client-facing technology engagements, preferably within professional services, consulting, or managed technology environments.

Experience managing project budgets, financial forecasts, scope changes, and commercial delivery commitments.

Strong understanding of technology delivery lifecycles, technical dependencies, and cross-functional execution.

Ability to independently manage ambiguity, assess risks, make informed decisions, and drive outcomes.

Proven ability to influence technical teams, business leaders, and executive stakeholders.

Experience applying Agile, Waterfall, or hybrid delivery approaches based on project needs.

Strong written and verbal communication, with the ability to translate complex delivery issues into clear business decisions.

Demonstrated ability to balance multiple priorities while maintaining ownership and delivery discipline.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with infrastructure, cloud, cybersecurity, networking, unified communications, application modernization, or related technology services.

Experience delivering fixed-fee, milestone-based, and time-and-materials engagements.

Familiarity with Salesforce, Jira, Confluence, ServiceNow, Smartsheet, Power BI, or comparable project delivery and reporting tools.

PMP, PMI-ACP, Scrum, SAFe, or related professional certifications.

Experience improving PMO practices, delivery frameworks, reporting, or operational processes.

Technology & Digital Fluency

Proficiency with Microsoft 365, including Teams, Excel, SharePoint, and PowerPoint.

Experience with project and portfolio management platforms such as Smartsheet, CORA PPM, Microsoft Project, or comparable tools.

Familiarity with CRM and business management platforms such as Salesforce, particularly for project tracking, financial visibility, and reporting.

Experience with Agile delivery and collaboration tools such as Jira and Confluence.

Ability to use approved enterprise AI tools, such as Claude, Microsoft Copilot, or ChatGPT Enterprise, to improve analysis, reporting, decision support, and delivery efficiency while maintaining appropriate data security.

Familiarity with business intelligence and reporting tools such as Power BI.

Ability to learn and adopt new technologies, contribute to system improvements, and identify opportunities for responsible automation.

What Success Looks Like:

Successful Senior Project Managers at CBTS:

Own outcomes. They don't wait for someone else to identify or solve delivery problems.

See around corners. They recognize risks early and act before issues become escalations.

Exercise sound judgment. They know when to make a decision, when to collaborate, and when to escalate.

Understand the business. They connect delivery decisions to customer value, financial performance, and long-term relationships.

Create clarity. They bring structure to ambiguity and help teams focus on what matters.

Build trust. Customers and internal partners know where things stand and have confidence in their leadership.

Make the organization better. They challenge unnecessary complexity, share what they've learned, and contribute to improving how we deliver.

We value demonstrated capability, sound judgment, and the ability to deliver results over rigid adherence to a particular methodology or toolset.

Salary $90,000 to $120,000/per annum i.e. the range is salary not including bonus.
