Power BI Developer

Job Role: Power BI Developer

Location: Downey, CA (Remote)

Please note that although the position is 100% remote, the live scan will be conducted onsite at our Downey HQ location. This position is for developing Power BI dashboards with advanced DAX, data modeling, and performance tuning and a strong SQL expertise in PL/SQL and T/SQL for building and optimizing database solutions.

Additional Skills Required:

1) Proficiency in Power BI report and dashboard development, including advanced DAX, Power Query, and performance optimization for large datasets.

2) Strong expertise in SQL, relational databases, and data modeling (Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL).

3) Hands-on experience with ETL tools: Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse, SSIS.

4) Strong communication skills to gather requirements and deliver impactful insights through user-friendly Power BI reports with row-level security and interactive visuals.

5) Skilled in data integration, data transformation, and ensuring data quality and consistency.

6) Proficiency in scripting languages (Python, Shell, etc.) for ETL automation and data manipulation.

7) Solid understanding of data warehouse architecture, including data lakes, marts, and staging.

8) Knowledge of data security, governance, and compliance for handling sensitive data.

9) Ability to optimize query performance, indexing, and partitioning strategies.

10) Ability to design and implement data warehouse models (star, snowflake schemas, dimension hierarchies).    

Experience Required:

This classification must have a minimum of seven (7) years of experience in electronic data processing systems study, design, and programming. At least four (4) years of that experience must have been in a lead capacity.

Additional Experience Required:

1) 3 years of experience in the past 4 years developing interactive dashboards and reports in Power BI, including using DAX for building measures, calculated columns, and time-based analytics.

2) 3 years of experience in the past 4 years writing stored procedures, triggers, and performance-tuned queries using PL/SQL and T/SQL and worked with tools such as SQL*Plus, Oracle SQL Developer, and Oracle Data Integrator, along with SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) and SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS).

3) 3 years of experience in the past 4 years in working with Oracle and Microsoft SQL database architecture, data preparation, modeling, normalization, performance tuning and optimization for large-scale datasets.

4) 3 years of experience in the past 4 years in working with designing and developing data warehouses using other platforms like Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle and familiarity with data warehousing tools like Azure Synapse.

5) 3 years of experience in the past 4 years in working with data cleansing, data profiling, and data validation techniques to ensure high data integrity in the data warehouse.       

Education Required:

This classification requires the possession of a bachelor’s degree in an IT-related or Engineering field. Additional qualifying experience may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis.       

Additional Education Required:

Bachelors in computer science, data analytics, or a related field.
