Job Purpose and Impact

  • Come build the AI platform that engineers across Cargill will use every day-shipping low-code and pro-code AI agents that turn real problems into real outcomes. At Cargill, you're not optimizing vanity metrics; you're helping a global company that puts food on tables around the world deliver better, faster, safer decisions at massive scale. We're looking for engineers with integrity (do the right thing when no one's watching), hunger to learn (stay curious, test, iterate), and a builder mindset (prototype, harden, scale). You'll do well here if you move work forward even with dependencies, communicate clearly, and ship value in increments-building strong relationships while finding practical paths around blockers.

Key Accountabilities

  • SOFTWARE DEVELOPMENT: Develops core platform services and automation using Python under guidance from senior engineers.
  • INTEGRATION SUPPORT: Assists with implementing and testing integrations across gateway, models, tools and vector stores following defined API and contract standards.
  • OBSERVABILITY & OPERATIONS: Apply telemetry-first practices (logs, metrics, traces), supports incident response and helps document runbooks and postmortems.
  • DOCUMENTATION & COLLABORATION: Maintains clear documentation for platform components and collaborates with cross functional teams to gather requirements and deliver reliable solutions.
  • CI/CD & AUTOMATION: Applies continuous integration and continuous delivery pipelines, writing unit and integration tests and supporting build, test and release automation.

Qualifications

  • No minimum years of relevant experience required. Typically reflects 2 years or more of relevant experience.

Preferred Experience
  • Familiarity with cloud fundamentals including IAM, KMS, lambda functions.
  • Exposure to infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform or CDK.
  • Understanding of LLM gateway basics including routing, rate limiting and observability concepts.
  • Familiarity with vector databases such as Pinecone or S3-based vector storage for retrieval use cases.
  • Exposure to automated evaluation and regression testing concepts for AI systems.
