Overview:
Our client, a leading aviation technology company, is seeking two experienced Database Administrators to support ongoing and upcoming initiatives. The organization is currently very short on DBA/Data personnel, so this role will play a critical part in maintaining and optimizing database operations. This position focuses primarily on SQL Server environments and offers a 4-month contract-to-hire engagement with potential for full-time employment.
The ideal candidate will have 5 years of hands-on SQL Server experience and be ready to hit the ground running, supporting both day-to-day operations and upcoming upgrades or initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
Administer and maintain SQL Server databases, ensuring optimal performance, reliability, and security
Perform database installations, configurations, patching, and version upgrades
Monitor performance and troubleshoot issues to prevent downtime or disruptions
Manage backups, disaster recovery, and high-availability configurations
Support upcoming initiatives, upgrades, and system enhancements
Participate in on-call rotations and provide after-hours support as needed
Collaborate with application, infrastructure, and data teams to support business objectives
Document processes, configurations, and maintenance activities
Required Skills & Experience (5 years):
Candidates should have experience that enables them to hit the ground running, including:
SQL Server administration: installation, configuration, patching, and schema management
Performance tuning and query optimization
Backup, recovery, and disaster recovery planning/testing
High availability: clustering, replication, or Always On Availability Groups
Maintenance and upgrades with minimal downtime
On-call and after-hours support experience
Collaboration with IT teams and stakeholders
Preferred Qualifications / Nice-to-Have:
Microsoft SQL Server certifications (MCSA, Azure Database Administrator Associate)
Cloud database experience (Azure SQL, AWS RDS)
ETL or reporting support experience
Experience in aviation or highly regulated environments
Work Environment & Expectations:
Full-time coverage required
Onsite in Broomfield, CO preferred, but fully remote arrangements possible
Some after-hours or on-call support may be required
