Join a high-impact team of engineers at Aberdeen Proving Ground (APG) supporting cutting-edge national security and defense programs. As a Kubernetes Full Stack Engineer, you'll be at the forefront of modern DevSecOps. Designing, hardening, and deploying containerized workloads on bare-metal and cloud infrastructure that directly enables mission success. If you thrive in a fast-paced, hands-on environment where your work genuinely matters, this is your role.

A typical day has you working across a collaborative engineering team, automating Linux deployments, tuning Kubernetes clusters, building CI/CD pipelines with ArgoCD, and helping users solve real deployment challenges on-site at APG and associated labs. You'll own your work end-to-end, bring creative solutions to complex infrastructure problems, and grow your skill set every day alongside engineers who are just as passionate about the mission as you are.

Technical Skills Required:
  • Hands-on Linux (RHEL) administration, automation, and troubleshooting.
  • Hands-on container development, building, and deployment (Docker, Podman, containerd, CRI-O).
  • Hands-on Kubernetes deployment and administration (K8s, K3s, RKE2, etc.).
  • Linux OS hardening experience (DOD STIG/SRG application).
  • Container hardening experience (DOD STIG/SRG application).
  • CI/CD pipelines and DevSecOps practices and implementations (e.g. ArgoCD).
  • Experience deploying Linux OS to x86-based commercial hardware.
  • Bash, Python scripting.
  • Experience using software configuration management (SCM) tools and frameworks such as Git, GitLab, Bitbucket.
  • Experience using project management/tracking tools such as Jira, Confluence, Wiki.
  • Ability to provide Tier 2 (advanced) system deployment support to users both virtually and in-person at APG and associated labs.

Technical Skills Desired:
  • Familiarity with AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform and deployment, administration, maintenance of cloud-based workloads.
  • Automated test frameworks (JUnit, Eggplant, Cypress.io, etc.).

Non-technical Skills Required:
  • Ability to work as part of a team and take ownership of tasks through completion.
  • Ability to support on-site work at APG 4-5 days per week.
  • Ability to travel up to 25%.
  • Willingness to learn, grow, and have fun as part of a team.

Certifications Desired:
  • Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA)
  • Red Hat Certified Systems Administrator (RHCSA)
  • CompTIA Security+

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor of Science in a STEM-related field preferred
  • Ability to obtain a DOD Top Secret clearance
