SAP S/4HANA VMS & OTC Solutions Architect (Automotive)

A leading automotive distribution company is seeking a seasoned SAP VMS/SD Solutions Architect to serve as the technical backbone of their S/4HANA ecosystem. In this hands-on leadership role, you will own the full architecture and configuration of SAP Vehicle Management System and Sales & Distribution modules, bridging the gap between complex supply chain operations and scalable SAP solutions. Day-to-day, you will partner directly with non-technical stakeholders across distribution and vehicle processing operations, translating their business requirements into precise functional specifications and working configurations. You will serve as the integration authority across VMS, SD, Procure-to-Pay, and Financial modules — guiding AMS partners, driving standardization, and ensuring high-volume automotive supply chain systems run without friction.

Key Responsibilities:

• Architect and personally configure solutions within SAP VMS and SD modules, ensuring alignment with business requirements and S/4HANA best practices.

• Gather complex requirements from non-technical stakeholders in distribution and vehicle processing environments, translating them into detailed functional specifications and WRICEF documents.

• Lead end-to-end Full Life Cycle SAP implementations, owning milestone delivery from blueprinting through post-go-live stabilization.

• Collaborate cross-functionally with BASIS, Security, and Development teams to resolve technical bottlenecks and ensure seamless system integration across VMS, SD, PTP, and FI modules.

• Guide and manage AMS partners on defect reduction initiatives, enforcing configuration standards and minimizing reliance on custom code.

• Champion out-of-the-box SAP functionality across the organization, pushing back on unnecessary customizations and establishing long-term architectural governance.

Requirements:

• 8+ years of hands-on configuration experience in both SAP VMS and SAP SD modules, with demonstrated depth across order-to-cash and vehicle lifecycle processes.

• Proven track record leading at least one Full Life Cycle (end-to-end) SAP VMS implementation from requirements gathering through go-live.

• Strong translational fluency — ability to extract and interpret complex business requirements from non-technical stakeholders and produce actionable SAP functional designs.

• Proficiency in creating Process Design Documents, Functional Design Documents, and full WRICEF specifications.

• Hands-on experience in an SAP S/4HANA environment, either through a greenfield/brownfield implementation or post-go-live support engagement.

• Ability to operate with a high degree of autonomy, managing shifting project timelines and competing priorities with minimal supervision.
