Role Overview

A Snowflake Architect is responsible for designing, implementing, and optimizing data warehouse and data lake solutions using the Snowflake platform. This role combines deep expertise in cloud data architecture, data modeling, performance optimization, and governance to build scalable, secure, and high-performance data ecosystems that support analytics, BI, and advanced data use cases.

Key Responsibilities

• Architecture & Design

  • Design end-to-end data warehouse and lakehouse architectures using Snowflake.

  • Define data modeling standards (star schema, snowflake schema, Data Vault).

  • Architect multi-cloud solutions (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform) integrated with Snowflake.

  • Develop scalable ingestion frameworks (batch and real-time).

• Data Engineering & Integration

  • Build and optimize ETL/ELT pipelines using Snowflake features (Streams, Tasks, Snowpipe).

  • Integrate Snowflake with tools such as:

    • ETL tools (Informatica, Matillion, Talend, dbt)

    • BI tools (Power BI, Tableau, Looker)

    • Cloud storage (S3, Azure Blob, GCS)

  • Implement data transformation logic using SQL and Snowflake-native capabilities.

• Performance & Optimization

  • Optimize query performance and warehouse sizing.

  • Implement clustering, partitioning, and data pruning strategies.

  • Monitor and control cost optimization strategies.

• Security & Governance

  • Implement role-based access control (RBAC).

  • Design data masking, encryption, and governance frameworks.

  • Ensure compliance with organizational and regulatory requirements.

• Leadership & Strategy

  • Provide technical leadership and best practices guidance.

  • Mentor data engineers and developers.

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to align architecture with business objectives.

  • Participate in roadmap planning and platform modernization initiatives.

Required Skills & Qualifications

Technical Skills

• Strong hands-on experience with Snowflake architecture and administration.

• Advanced SQL expertise.

• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform).

• Knowledge of data modeling techniques and data warehousing concepts.

• Experience building ELT pipelines and automation workflows.

• Understanding of CI/CD and DevOps practices in data environments.

Preferred Skills

• Snowflake certifications (e.g., SnowPro Core, SnowPro Advanced Architect).

• Experience with data governance tools.

• Knowledge of Python or Scala for data processing.

• Experience with orchestration tools like Airflow.
