\nJob Summary:\n
\n
\nAssists the surgical team in the preparation of surgical procedures in the operating room. Prepares surgical cases by creating and maintaining a sterile field, retracting and passing instruments, supplies and medications to surgeons during cases. Performs a variety of technical skills, including the maintenance of supplies. This position is represented by OFNHP.\n
\n
\nJob Requirements:\n

\nEducation and Work Experience:\n
\n
\n - High School Education/GED or equivalent: Preferred
\n - Accredited surgical technology program: Required
\n - Associate's/Technical Degree or equivalent combination of education/related experience: Preferred
\n - Scrub technician experience: Preferred
\n - Operating room experience and/or training course: Preferred
\n
\n
\nLicenses/Certifications:\n\n
\n - Surgery Technician certification: Required
\n - Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification or Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from approved vendor per AH policy: Required
\n - Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification: Preferred
\n
\n
\nFacility Specific
License/Certifications:\n\n
\n - AHA-BLS or ARC-BLS or AHA-CPR or ARC-CPR: Required
\n
\n
\nEssential Functions:\n
\n
\n - Prepares for each surgical case by accurately checking required supplies and equipment prior to case. Assembles appropriate supplies/equipment prior to operative procedures. Reviews equipment inventory for specialty as assigned. Sets up operative instrumentation/sterile field for expedient retrieval/utilization.
\n - Collects data on assigned surgical cases by the unit based Performance Standards of Care. Cleans equipment and facilities as necessary. Performs housekeeping duties as requested.
\n - Transports patients according to unit schedules and priorities. Provides clerical duties.
\n - Completes instrument, sponge, needle and blade counts with the Registered Nurse (RN) according to established standards.
\n - Sets up/maintains neat and orderly sterile field demonstrating careful attention to aseptic technique. Labels solutions according to established standards.
\n - Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
