Summary

We are seeking an experienced Sr. Engineer, Mechanical Design to lead the design and development of complex electromechanical systems, chassis, enclosures, and integrated packaging solutions.

This senior-level engineering role takes customer and system requirements from concept through production release, developing reliable, manufacturable, and cost-effective mechanical solutions. The Sr. Engineer will serve as a technical subject matter expert, lead design reviews, collaborate directly with customers and cross-functional teams, and provide technical guidance and mentoring to other engineers and designers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead mechanical design and development of complex electromechanical systems, chassis, enclosures, and assemblies from concept through production.
  • Create and maintain 3D CAD models, detailed drawings, assembly documentation, BOMs, and engineering documentation.
  • Develop sheet metal, enclosure, chassis, and mechanical packaging solutions for demanding applications.
  • Perform tolerance and stack-up analysis, DFM assessments, and other mechanical design analyses.
  • Ensure designs meet customer specifications, performance, reliability, manufacturability, cost, and applicable industry or military requirements.
  • Lead design reviews and provide technical direction throughout project execution.
  • Partner with electrical engineering, manufacturing, quality, supply chain, sales, applications engineering, and project management.
  • Interface directly with customers to review requirements, present design concepts, and provide technical recommendations.
  • Support prototype builds, qualification testing, root cause investigations, and production troubleshooting.
  • Manage engineering releases, revisions, ECOs, and configuration-controlled product documentation.
  • Mentor engineers and designers and help drive continuous improvement of engineering practices and standards.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
  • 8-10+ years of progressive mechanical design engineering experience.
  • Demonstrated experience designing complex electromechanical systems, enclosures, chassis, and sheet metal assemblies.
  • Advanced proficiency with PTC Creo (Pro/ENGINEER) and PTC Direct Modeling.
  • Experience with Windchill PLM and engineering change/configuration management processes.
  • Strong knowledge of GD&T, tolerance analysis, machining, fabrication, assembly, and DFM principles.
  • Proven ability to lead engineering projects from concept through production release.
  • Strong technical problem-solving, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Experience leading customer-facing technical discussions and design reviews.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities with a high degree of independence.

Preferred Experience

  • Experience designing products for defense, aerospace, ruggedized electronics, industrial, or other high-reliability environments.
  • Experience with design verification, qualification testing, and failure/root cause analysis.
  • Experience with thermal simulation or analysis tools.
  • Experience mentoring or providing technical leadership to engineers and designers.

Why This Role

This is an opportunity for an experienced mechanical engineer to take technical ownership of sophisticated products, work directly with customers and cross-functional teams, and influence designs from initial concept through successful production.
