RESPONSIBILITIES:
Kforce has a client in Greenwood Village, CO that is seeking a highly skilled Wireless Research Engineer to join an advanced emerging technologies team focused on shaping the future of wireless and network innovation. This role is centered on forward-looking research, experimentation, and prototyping, with direct involvement in lab-based testing and real-world trials. The Wireless Architect will work at the intersection of research and execution, exploring new capabilities across wireless technologies while helping validate and translate findings into deployable solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
* Conduct deep technical research across wireless technologies, including 5G and early-stage emerging standards
* Design, build, and execute proofs of concept (POCs), lab trials, and field experiments
* Work heavily in a lab environment, performing hands-on testing and validation
* Evaluate new features, capabilities, and architectures, and assess their impact on existing networks
* Contribute to innovation efforts related to wireless evolution, including next-generation network use cases
* Develop and present research findings, technical insights, and recommendations to leadership
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams to transition successful concepts into engineering and deployment
* Participate in multiple concurrent initiatives, balancing research and execution
REQUIREMENTS:
* Strong background in RF engineering, including design, optimization, amplifiers, and nodes
* Proven ability to conduct technical research and drive insights from emerging technologies
* Experience working in research-driven or innovation-focused environments
* Hands-on experience with lab testing, prototyping, and experimental validation
* Strong understanding of wireless systems, particularly 5G, and the PHY layer
* Familiarity with 3GPP standards
* Ability to translate research into practical applications and validated outcomes
* Strong communication skills, including the ability to present technical findings clearly
Preferred Qualifications:
* Advanced degree (PhD or equivalent research experience)
* Experience with emerging wireless technologies (e.g., early 6G concepts, satellite integration)
* Background in wireline or hybrid network technologies (fiber, DOCSIS, WiFi)
* Experience working with telecom equipment vendors or lab-grade infrastructure
* Exposure to small cell technologies or advanced network architectures
Work Environment:
* Onsite role - 5 days per week in a lab setting (critical requirement)

The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.
We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
