Job Description:
Microsoft IAM Specialist (Entra / Identity Security) Role Overview
The Microsoft IAM Specialist is responsible for designing, implementing, and managing enterprise identity and access management solutions using Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD) and related security tools. The role focuses on securing user and workload identities, enforcing zero-trust principles, and strengthening identity-based threat detection and response.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Identity & Access Management (Entra ID)
Design and manage identity lifecycle processes (joiner/mover/leaver).
Implement and maintain SSO integrations using SAML, OIDC, and OAuth.
Manage directory synchronization (Entra Connect) and hybrid identity environments.
Configure RBAC, administrative roles, and identity governance controls.
2. Conditional Access & Zero Trust Design and enforce Conditional Access policies based on risk, device compliance, and user context. Implement adaptive access controls aligned with Zero Trust architecture.
Optimize policies for security vs. user experience balance.
Work with Identity Protection signals (risky users/sign-ins) for dynamic enforcement.
3. Microsoft Defender for Identity
Deploy and manage Defender for Identity for on-prem and hybrid environments.
Monitor and investigate identity-based threats (lateral movement, credential theft)
Integrate identity signals into broader SOC workflows (e.g., SIEM/Sentinel if applicable).
