About

We are seeking a skilled PC Imaging & Deployment Technician to serve as the sole onsite technical resource for a 400-device Windows PC refresh project across facilities.

This is a project delivery role — not a help desk seat. You will own the full technical lifecycle: image engineering, staging, multi-building deployment, NinjaOne RMM implementation, Active Directory/GPO configuration, and end-user handoff. You are the primary technical presence onsite for the duration of the engagement.

What You Will Own

PC Image Engineering

  • Build standard and specialized Windows 10/11 WIM images for 400 brand-new OEM PCs
  • Inject OEM driver packs per hardware family across all device models in scope
  • Incorporate standard software, security agents, and department-specific application packages into images
  • Conduct pre-deployment testing and validation in a provided staging environment
  • Support multiple image variants — general users, admin users, department-specific roles — confirmed during discovery phase

Active Directory & Group Policy

  • Audit existing AD environment and GPO structure
  • Modify, extend, and optimize existing Group Policy Objects for security baseline, user environment, software restrictions, and compliance
  • Document all GPO changes for client IT team to maintain independently post-engagement

NinjaOne RMM Deployment & Configuration

  • Deploy NinjaOne agent to all 400 endpoints
  • Configure device enrollment, monitoring policies, alerting thresholds, patch management automation, and reporting dashboards
  • Deliver a fully operational RMM environment with IT handover documentation

Field Deployment — 400 Devices, Multiple Buildings

  • Coordinate device scheduling with department liaisons and IT staff
  • Stage, image, and physically deploy all 400 new PCs to end users across multiple facilities in Meriden, CT
  • Perform domain join, NinjaOne enrollment, and end-user handoff for each device
  • Provide same-day troubleshooting for any deployment-day technical issues

3-Month Onsite Support

  • Serve as the primary onsite technical point of contact throughout the engagement
  • Maintain deployment momentum: throughput targets, phasing schedule, milestone sign-offs
  • Deliver complete knowledge transfer and documentation package at close

Discovery & Project Kickoff

  • Lead or participate in discovery phase to confirm image requirements, OEM hardware inventory, deployment phasing by department/location, and access provisioning

Required Qualifications

Experience

  • 5+ years hands-on Windows PC imaging and enterprise endpoint deployment
  • Demonstrated experience deploying 200+ devices on a single project (400+ strongly preferred)
  • Government, municipal, or large enterprise environment experience preferred

Technical — Must Have

  • Windows 10 and Windows 11 image creation and management (WIM format)
  • Microsoft Deployment Toolkit (MDT) and/or Windows Deployment Services (WDS)
  • PDQ Deploy / PDQ Inventory or comparable imaging/deployment tooling
  • Active Directory administration — modify and extend existing environments
  • Group Policy Objects (GPO) — design, implement, and document in production AD
  • Driver pack injection for multi-OEM hardware deployments
  • Hardware troubleshooting during live field deployment
  • PowerShell scripting for deployment automation and configuration

Soft Skills

  • Strong self-management — maintains deployment pace without close supervision
  • Clear communicator with both IT staff and non-technical end users
  • Organized, detailed documentation habits
  • Professional demeanor in government facility environments

Preferred / Nice to Have

  • NinjaOne RMM — deployment, configuration, monitoring setup (strongly preferred)
  • Azure Active Directory (Microsoft Entra ID) / Microsoft Intune MDM enrollment
  • Windows Autopilot
  • SCCM / MECM
  • BIOS/UEFI firmware configuration — Secure Boot, TPM 2.0, boot order
  • OSD task sequence design
  • Prior City, County, or State government IT deployment experience
  • Connecticut local presence preferred but not required
