Summary

Job Description

Service Engineers work in partnership with developers, testers, and program managers, (typically early in the development process) to design, operate, grow, and improve large-scale, computer-based services offered to IS, non-IS and clinical caregivers. Their technical skills are on par with their Development, Test, and Program Management counterparts.

Providence caregivers are not simply valued - they're invaluable. Join our team at Enterprise Information Services and thrive in our culture of patient-focused, whole-person care built on understanding, commitment, and mutual respect. Your voice matters here, because we know that to inspire and retain the best people, we must empower them.

Service Engineers ensure caregivers have a fast, reliable, and frustration-free digital experience by owning and operating our endpoint management platforms, including Microsoft Configuration Manager/SCCM, Microsoft Intune, and Jamf. In this role, you'll partner with endpoint engineering, service desk, application delivery, cybersecurity, and field support teams to design, scale, and operate the services that manage Windows and macOS devices across the organization. You'll own the full-service lifecycle, from platform health, infrastructure reliability, policy and configuration management, operating system deployment, Autopilot, Jamf workflows, compliance reporting, and automation, all while helping advance the organization toward secure, modern, and consistent endpoint operations.

When issues arise, you're the calm technical leader who uses platform data, logs, and operational telemetry to quickly identify root cause, restore service, and ensure the fix sticks through durable automation, improved monitoring, and clear standards. As a senior engineer, you'll set technical direction, mentor other engineers, and shape the endpoint management roadmap-defining what "good" looks like for scalable device management, secure configuration, deployment reliability, and service performance. If you thrive at the intersection of endpoint engineering, automation at scale, and caregiver experience, this role was built for you.

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in computer engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, or equivalent educ/experience
  • 2 years of Related experience; 2-5 years preferred.
  • Experience in automation, specifically related to deployment, recovery, or other manual processes.
  • Experience with n-tier solutions.
  • Experience with resilience modeling (failure mode analysis) and ability to simulate service outages for point solutions (automated) and platforms (manually).

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Preferred Qualifications:
  • Hands-on experience with Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (MEMCM/SCCM) & Intune for enterprise endpoint management, patch deployment, and software distribution.
  • Strong experience in Windows Server administration and troubleshooting, including Windows patching, log analysis (Windows Update, Event Viewer), and root cause resolution.
  • Proficiency in PowerShell scripting for automation, including patch validation, reporting, system administration, and workflow automation.
  • Experience automating deployment, patching, and operational processes using scripting, orchestration tools, or configuration management techniques.
  • Familiarity with enterprise patch lifecycle processes, including Patch Tuesday operations, testing, deployment, and compliance tracking in large-scale environments.
  • Basic knowledge of Linux systems administration and patching (YUM/APT, package management, shell scripting) is desirable.
  • Working knowledge of vulnerability management concepts and tools (e.g., Rapid7, Tenable, Qualys) and remediation workflows.
  • Experience working in large-scale, enterprise environments with compliance-driven operations and SLA-based patching or security standards.
  • Experience with reporting and analytics tools (Power BI or similar) for operational reporting, dashboards, and compliance tracking.
  • Hands on experience on DSC with Ansible (AWX) and integration with PowerBI reporting.
  • Should have hands on experience on end-to-end workflow creation through runs books and logic apps.
  • Good to have experience on group policies and understanding on server hardening and CIS benchmarking with DSC and other tools like GPO.
