Summary

OneSource Professional Search is partnering with a privately held, established petroleum refining company to hire a Plant Engineer for its refinery operation in Mississippi. This newly created position offers an engineer the opportunity to build broad plant experience across mechanical engineering, equipment reliability, maintenance support, and capital projects, with opportunities for continued technical and leadership growth.

Responsibilities
  • Provide mechanical engineering and troubleshooting support for refinery Operations and Maintenance.
  • Identify and implement solutions to improve equipment reliability and plant performance.
  • Develop scopes of work, specifications, cost estimates, bid packages, and construction documentation.
  • Manage small- to mid-sized capital and maintenance projects, generally under $1MM.
  • Provide recommendations related to equipment repair, replacement, materials, and metallurgy.
  • Participate in root cause analyses, fitness-for-service evaluations, and reliability improvement initiatives.
  • Support plant shutdowns and turnarounds, including project and contractor coordination.
  • Serve as a technical resource for Engineering, Operations, and Maintenance.
  • Participate in a rotational on-call schedule.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
  • 3-6 years of engineering experience in a refinery, chemical/petrochemical plant, pulp and paper mill, or similar industrial facility.
  • Strong mechanical troubleshooting, project engineering, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in an operating plant environment.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively across Engineering, Operations, and Maintenance.

Preferred Experience
  • Refinery or petrochemical industry experience.
  • Equipment inspection or mechanical integrity experience.
  • Shutdown and turnaround support.
  • Familiarity with Primavera P6 or Microsoft Project.
