Quality Assurance (QA) Test Manager

Title: Quality Assurance (QA) Test Manager.

Location:  Austin, TX.

Duration: 4+ Months Contract (possible to extend).

Work Location:, Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM (may require evenings/weekends)

Job description:    

We are seeking an experienced QA/Test Manager to oversee testing strategy, coordination, and execution across modernization initiatives. The role requires strong leadership in managing QA processes, coordinating with vendors and business stakeholders, and ensuring successful User Acceptance Testing (UAT) throughout the software development lifecycle.

Years     Required/Preferred        Experience

7             Required              Oversee user acceptance, performance, accessibility, interface, security, and data conversion testing

7             Required              Manage, perform, monitor, and report on test activities on modern technology platforms

7             Required              Review, update and create test strategy, suites, and cases

7             Required              Document and report test results, data conversion and integration issues/concerns, and problem incident reports (PIRs)/defects statusts (PIRs)/defect status

7             Required              Provide training and mentoring of testing team members

7             Required              Coordinate scheduling of testing staff, test activities, and meetings

7             Required              Experience with test tools such as Jira, TestSavvy, JUnit, Selenium, Microfocus UFT, SQL, etc.

7             Required              Experience and understanding of the full software life cycle with specific emphasis on the testing discipline. Experience in Agile and Waterfall methodologies.

7             Required              Excellent leadership, communication, organization, planning, and problem-solving skills

4             Required              Experience with Performance monitoring tools such as JProfiler, JMeter, etc.

4             Preferred             Experience with Salesforce

4             Preferred             Experience working directly with a Texas state agency as an employee or contractor in a QA Test Manager role

4             Preferred             Experience as a team leader or project manager

Job Duties

• Lead and manage QA and testing activities across the full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
• Define and implement User Acceptance Testing (UAT) strategy for modernization projects.
• Coordinate sprint review feedback between vendor teams and business SMEs.
• Review and refine test cases submitted by vendors and internal teams.
• Work closely with business users and SMEs to create, update, and execute test cases.
• Document and report test results, defects, and testing metrics.
• Act as the primary liaison between IT teams, business stakeholders, and vendors.
• Lead defect triage processes including tracking, prioritizing, and resolution management.
• Perform root cause analysis on recurring defects and recommend improvements.
• Provide weekly testing and UAT status updates to project stakeholders.
• Ensure requirement traceability and test coverage across releases.
• Validate UAT exit criteria and secure final business sign-off.
• Perform additional testing and project-related duties as assigned by the Project Manager.

Minimum Qualifications

• 7+ years managing and overseeing QA and testing activities.
• 7+ years of experience with UAT, performance, security, accessibility, interface, and data conversion testing.
• 7+ years creating and managing test strategies, test suites, and test cases.
• 7+ years managing test execution and reporting on modern technology platforms.
• Experience documenting test results, defects, and incident reports.
• Experience coordinating testing teams, schedules, and testing activities.
• Strong experience across the full SDLC with Agile and Waterfall methodologies.
• Proven leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

 Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working with Salesforce platforms.
• Previous experience working with a Texas State Agency in a QA/Test Manager role.
• Experience serving as a team lead or project manager in testing initiatives.
