Description: Maintains operation of multi-user computer systems, including coordination of infrastructure and cloud responsibilities. Develops and designs core operating system builds. Responsible for coding, virtualization, and automation of systems. Sets up administrator and service accounts, maintains an active directory of users and system documentation, tunes system performance, installs system-wide software, and allocates mass storage space. Assesses and resolves user access problems related to security controls to minimize business impact and risk exposure. Identifies and evaluates vendor products and establishes vendor monitoring and tracking processes. Performs capacity planning and monitors/tunes systems. Recommends appropriate platforms for purchase, coordinates installation, and provides backup recovery. Serves as a point of escalation for major incidents that are unresolved at the helpdesk level. Develops and monitors policies and standards for allocation related to the use of computing resources. May draft general IT communications to end-users including notifications of outages/downtimes. May serve as the primary liaison for mergers, acquisitions, and divesture activities as it relates to user access, network, security, and support.
Background/Need: The Group develops innovative undersea and undersea-enabled capabilities for transition to operational systems of the US Navy and other Department of Defense (DoD) sponsors. Focus areas include acoustic and non-acoustic sensors, undersea networks, autonomous systems, and advanced signal processing algorithms. The group performs rigorous systems analyses, develops system architectures, and builds prototypes to demonstrate the viability and effectiveness of new concepts, capabilities, and processing techniques. In addition, the group provides undersea domain and technology expertise to inform and motivate novel cross-domain concept development.

Group is seeking a Systems Administrator - below are the responsibilities:
- Administer GNU/Linux desktop/server environments, including Red Hat, Ubuntu, and Centos distributions
- Administer virtualized networks using VMware and other virtualization technologies Administer Microsoft Windows and Apple Macintosh desktop environments, including Win 7 and OS X
- Support installation, maintenance, repair and upgrade of computer and network equipment
- Review and test new hardware and software applications, and make recommendations for purchases
- Design and implement shell scripts and other tools to automate processes and provide needed capabilities to technical staff
- Contribute to projects to improve aspects of the computing and network infrastructure: data storage, backups and recovery, network bandwidth and throughput, application installation, and management
- Support design and implement configuration management and monitoring of systems and networks
- Collaborate with other personnel within the organization to enhance technology and support practices
- Maintain regular contact with client IT and security resources and to rapidly reconfigure systems to report and remediate performance and security issues.
Required:
- Operating Systems: UNIX/Linux, Windows, OSX, VMware, Cisco IOS.
- Hardware: Intel/AMD, Cisco, Sun/Oracle, Dell, Apple, EMC, NetApp.
- Software/applications: SAP, Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Outlook), MS Active Directory, LDAP, Java, JavaScript, SQL, BMC Footprints, VMware, SCCM 2012, SCOM 2012, EMC Networker, SolarWinds.
- Networking applications and protocols: TCP/IP, DNS, NTP, DHCP, SSH, FTP and HTTP/S.
- Programming Languages: Perl, Python, Shell Scripting, PowerShell.
- System auditing, hardening, and firewall configurations.
Candidate must be able to demonstrate a proven track record with all of these abilities to be considered:
- Experience installing and deploying VMware ESXi in a clustered environment.
- Experience installing and managing virtual machines with vCenter Server.
- Experience with automated installation and management systems for Linux, ie Kickstart and Satellite
- Experience installing and managing network services such as DNS, DHCP, NFS, SSH, SAMBA
- Experience installing and configuring firewalls, routers and switches Experience managing databases
- Ability to understand and modify moderately complex shell scripts using redirection, pipes, variables, loops, and conditional statements
- Self-motivated, and able to demonstrate an attitude of ownership and a desire to learn
- Effective customer service skills, communication skills, and a positive attitude
- Effective written and verbal communication is essential
- Attention to detail, comprehensive problem and troubleshooting solving skills
- Ability to work well under pressure and within time constraints
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize work
- Ability to work with experienced and junior systems administrators in a collaborative and rapid pace environment
Desired:
- Experience with risk management framework (RMF) strongly desired

- Clearance: Candidates must possess an active secret clearance to be considered for this position.
- Work Location: Hybrid - Individual works from home or off-site for a portion of their schedule and within a routinely commutable distance from the Lexington facility. Candidate should expect to be onsite 4 days a week with 1 day remote. *Candidates must be flexible to come onsite as needed.
