Job Description Summary
As a Lead Engineer - Electric Machines in the GE Vernova Advanced Research Electrical Systems team, you will be involved in the design of electrical machines and will be contributing to the development of advanced machine system concepts as well as their implementation for application to power generation (including inverter-based generation resources) and electrification applications.

Job Description

Essential Responsibilities:

As part of a multi-disciplinary team, you will contribute to the planning, development, and transition of technologies from concept to products and/or services for GE Vernova internal and external clients.

You will:
  • Conduct research through modeling simulation, and design electric machines
  • Develop and test machines.
  • Participate with multidisciplinary teams in the development of new power technologies and capabilities for GE Vernova's next generation product platforms.
  • Innovate in the electric machines domain.
  • Participate with multi-disciplinary teams in the development of new power technologies and capabilities for GE Vernova's next generation product platforms. Disciplines include controls, electromagnetics, insulation, thermal as well as mechanical technology areas.
  • Effectively communicate results by preparing written reports and making presentations that describe analyses and solutions.
  • Connect the organization to the latest technology developments and trends in industry
  • Contribute to proposals for GE Vernova businesses as well as government agencies

Qualifications/Requirements:
  • Doctorate Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field with a minimum of 2 years of professional experience developing electric machines or Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field with a minimum of 6 years of professional experience developing electric machines.
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required. We will not sponsor individuals at the Master's level for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job opening.
  • Because of the specific categories of data handled by GE Vernova Advanced Research and the structure of our work environment, we are unable to accommodate employment of persons while they are considered nationals of countries subject to comprehensive restrictions under the US Export Administration Regulations (EAR), 15 CFR Section 746 et seq.   • Must be willing to work out of an office located in Niskayuna, NY.

Desired Characteristics:
  • In-depth knowledge of electrical machines and their controls, including electromagnetic, insulation, thermal as well as mechanical technology aspects
  • Experience in designing electric machines for a wide range of applications.
  • Experience with surface permanent magnet, interior permanent magnet, flux switching, reluctance, and superconducting machine technologies.
  • Experience with power transformers and power electronics magnetic components.
  • Experience with development of enabling technologies for mechanical and electro-mechanical systems.
  • Experience in simulation tools such as finite elements, MATLAB (Simulink) and others such as PLECS
  • Strong background in developing multi-physics analytical models of electric machines.
  • Connections in industry and academia
  • Record of publications and patents
  • Demonstrated successful track record of completing tasks and deliverables on schedule and on budget.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills including demonstrated formal writing and presentation experience.
  • Secret Clearance with an ability to attain a Top-Secret Clearance is preferred

Relocation Assistance Provided: Yes

For candidates applying to a U.S. based position, the pay range for this position is between $98,400.00 and $164,000.00. The Company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120% or 130% of salary in certain areas. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate's experience, education, and skill set.

Bonus eligibility: discretionary annual bonus.
